Mass aif flow sensor or what is it.

About a month ago, my car started to die on me. It's a 98, 5 speed with 41000 miles. When ever I slow down, and my RPM are low, my car would start chocking, my RPM with fly up and down and then the car would chock. Then I would have to restart it, and give it some gas. That happens to me a couple of time a day. Last week I took my car to my buddy, and he is a machanic. We hooked it up to a scaner, and he thinks that my mass air flow sensor is bad. What do you guys think, any ideas what it might be.

My light has been on for about a month now. Although I took it to a dealer, twice, and they don't know what is wrong with it.

If the dealer did not tell you the codes, or you have forgotten them, you may do another readout by following the instructions which the Sticky points to. Knowing the Codes is an essential first step in doing a diagnosis and repair. Facts are better than guesses.
