Did you replace the rear main seal? There could be an oil leak, thats starting to leak onto the clutch disk.

I don't think I'm leaking anything. I will check smells and/or leaks.

my clutch slips every now and then ... but I just chalked it up to being "normal" for my car. most of the time it does it as I shift. I am not slipping the clutch on purpose, just shift like normal, but I can feel it engage after my foot is clear off the clutch. like it wants to seat, but it's not sure so ... it takes a sec or 2 to do it.

gotta do a re-build soon anyway ... so I will do a new clutch then too. although this one feels good otherwise!

Well I'm still on what I believe is the factory clutch, and at 108k in my '95, it seemed to only slip sometimes when it wanted to and ONLY during shifting. Stopped for a while, but my car seemed a whole lot slower. Finally got it scanned and had a bad knock sensor and a bad 02 sensor (much to the displeasure of quite a few other maxima's that had been running there mouths about how I wasnt that much faster than them, but I digress). Fixed the knock sensor and got a whole lot faster, but clutch started slipping again.

Anyway, point is, most people in this thread with a stock clutch might consider checking there fluid levels/ bleeding the clutch to make sure there is no air in the line. If there isnt, might be time for a new clutch. And for those people with new clutches, I'd either say rear main seal, input shaft seal or you just didnt break it in properly.

breaking it in just means dupping the clutch at like 6,500 RPM ... right? lol

Input shaft will make other noise (as I know now from experience - need a rebuild) and if it is leaking that bad ... it'll make a puddle (or at least drip). For checking the fluid levels ... not a bad idea, but that is just gonna make it hard to shift - not cause white smoke. The main would also cause leaks to be noticed and also low oil levels.

I'd say you smoked the clutch yourself ... 1/2 peddal on release maybe ... my moral is .. learn to drive a manual trans!

You're right about the original poster. But I was more or less addressing the other issues in the thread. My clutch on the other hand is just old. Seen the track a good few times. Just time for a new one.

And also, a main leak might not necessarily mean low oil levels. I mean yeah, over time of course but a week or two might not be a noticeable difference given a few factors. (But feel free to correct me, I'm speaking from some personal experience myself, although not directly related to a oil leak)

you shouldnt of been able to make a brand new clutch slip unless
a. You didnt break it in properly
b. You didnt assemble it properly
c. You dont know how to drive stick
d. Youre pushing massive power

my exedy stage 1 with about 10000 miles on it wont even come close to slipping even if i DID dump the clutch at 6500 (never would).
