O2 sensors

Hi gang. I am trying to trouble shoot the O2 sensors in the engine area, the left side, O2 is triggered and the right side O2, (near the firewall) is triggered too. The rear is not. I am experiencing some rough idle, more than likely due to cruddy gas, 89 octane and it didn't start until I got going the next day for a round trip to Tennessee. On the way back it started.

At the moment, I cleaned what I could, the left O2, closest to the radiator, front side and left the rear one unchecked because it did not throw the code. However, did not discover that I had a second one the night before. The Right Bank, O2 sensor, closest to the fire wall. I am going out to purchase a socket to use to take off the sensor and clean it with some electronic spray. I did this once before for both sensors but not the third one. I am suspecting the Right O2 sensor is not clean and faulting and causing the Left O2 to fault out too.

I am left baffled and would like to know some experiences if this sound like a major issue. I can replace the O2 sensor but I understant cleaning it would help just as well. Any clues or thoughts from the Maxima drivers and engine/exhaust experts? Thanks guys, in advance.

Max

Do you have an engine light? What brings you to the conclusion that it is a o2 issue?

Check your MAF and IACV also.

and cleaning them may take the c/e light off for awhile, but they do go bad and are'nt all that expensive. courtesy nissan.com should have a reasonably priced 02 sensor, you might as well replace if your gonna take it apart anyway.....

Thanks guys. I went to find one, on Ebay, and their prices seemed resonable. However, I will not splice my wires. I would rather pay 60 bucks instead of 30.
I cleaned the MAF. and the IACV. hmmm.. may be the wrong thing that I cleaned. There is a screw like grey button that a phillips head screw driver goes into. Some adjusted that. What is that? And if its out of wack, how do I adjust it?

I just replaced all three of mine. It's a very easy job (unless your post-cat. O2 is seized up badly, mine was).

Don't buy the socket. Rent it from Autozone.

Check the O2 sensors with a multimeter. I wouldn't "clean" the sensors; that's just prolonging the problem.

Well, I cleaned it and its working. I will start looking to replacing the O2 sensors shortly. I realize this does not correct the problem but its a quick fix for the time being. Thanks for all your help for this matter.
