Beep Horn with keyless entry?

I saw the how-to on vq-power about making a buzzer when you lock and unlock the car, but it didn't seem like it would be as loud as I would like. Is there any way to get it to honk the horn like some cars do instead?

Ugh, are you serious? Go out and honk your horn twice and see if you could live with it doing that every time you locked your car.

I could. Im tired of trying to remember if I saw my lights blink before I went to bed. Then get up just to press the button and see them blink. Give me a horn honk and Id be fine. For real though. Im sure there is a way this can be done. If it can happen with the buzzer then it can happen with a horn.

+1

I wish my car honked like others did. I like the "BEEP" from Toyota/Lexus vehicles.

I did the piezo buzzer mod from vqpower on my Maxima, and it isn't as loud as I would've liked.. with the trunk lid open it's reasonably loud, but when you mount it where the guide says, put the piece of trunk lining back in and close your trunk, it isn't loud at all. I could hardly hear it from the front of the car.

But now for some insane reason my hazard lights stopped working (as did the buzzer), so when I lock my car I get nothing and have to a) look for the interior lights going out or b) listen for the door locks clicking. I'd recommend following the vqpower guide but using two buzzers -- one in the trunk location indicated by the guide (since it can be heard from the back and side of your car), and the second under the hood somewhere.

I have also done the piezo/stock alarm integration on my old 95 SE but I mounted the buzzer securely up in my rear bumper shell as to not get wet etc...ran the wire through the floor of the trunk. It was actually quite audible even from a distance. Very comparable to BMW & Toyota.

horn honks FTL. All the n00bs in the morning, I can hear them locking their cars in the underground parkade. Mine, just a simple "click click" I hear the lights turn on and off. Nice and quite. or getting out late at night, you dont want your horn honking and wakeing the neighbours when you get home at 400AM. No style. Also, when the horn honks, its a sign of "no alarm, just stardard OEM ****"

If you want to do it with a noise, get a alarm noise maker kind of thing. Atleast it makes it sound like a legit security system

I know some cars (like some older Volvos) have a separate horn for the alarm beep. It's less audible from a distance and usually a different pitch. If you want a horn beep, I'd stay away from the high-pitched annoying stock Nissan horn and wire up a separate one of these beep horns from some junkyard car.

I would really like to link my horn up to my keyless entry, but I just ordered some air horns I'm putting in and I wouldn't want to hear that every time I lock my car. I'm also installing glass and shock sensors.. so if somebody wants to break into my car, they'll have incredibly loud air horns to deal with

Dual PVC air horns w/ compressor (made in china!) - $15/ebay (install guide on vqpower)
Shock and glass sensors - $5/ebay (and there's an install guide on vqpower)

Cheapest alarm system upgrade you can get for our OEM "security" system!
