To Hell with Chrome!!! Now what??
To Hell with Chrome!!! Now what??
.ORG fam,
I have been struggling with my wheels ever since I got 'em. I have some chrome Veloche' 18" wheels for my max
pics are here, (http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...8&postcount=44)
About 3 months after I got them (May 2006), I bent 2 wheels (front & rear passenger side), and destroyed the front tire hitting a pothole traveling in Northern VA. Took the wheels off for the winter, and this past May, I bought 2 new wheels, and put them all back on my car.
I have been traveling here recently, occasionally hitting a pothole while traveling on I-495, but didn't think anything of it. I came from my mechanic about an hour ago because I noticed vibration while driving, and yes, I have two other bent wheels!
Ok, don't beat me over the head
for being somewhat of a noob about wheels, but I didn't know that the process for chroming wheels actually weakens the wheel to where potholes that would not damage an aftermarket aluminum wheel, will wreck havoc on chrome ones.
So, I am getting new wheels (non-chrome), but I ain't trying to spend an arm and a leg. I am looking at
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-in...spagenameZWDVW
and
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-In...spagenameZWDVW
But I am unsure of what color will complement my max (see link for pics above)
I am viewing the forum to check out the pics, but just thought to get another opinion. Because folks may have the same color combos, but may not like it for whatever reason after they have had if for a while.
Please comment on either of the wheels (and note the $500 total price). Or if you guys have another inexpensive set that may be cool (and strong enough for I-495), please post info or links.
Holla at cho' boy!

Hmm, thanks for the link, I'm buying thoes wheels right now.. lol J/K. I like the wheels. Really sucks the chrome ones have not held up. Maybe they were designed for ligher cars? I personally think that black wheels on a black car do not look good but "dark" and polished do.
i like the 1st ones also, plus the price is great also. I just put on a set of chrome wheels that my friend left at my house. dont worry bout being a newbie cause i didnt know that eather. so now, i have to consider getting a set for next year!
its not the chrome thats causing you to bend rims, don't know where you heard that. its cheap cast wheels and bad roads. neither of these problems are fixed by your choices.
as for cost effective replacments, try nissan oem wheels off other models.
