quit being a big foot, oops i mean lead foot!!!

clean the TB and IACV for good measure
air filter
fuel filter (heard it doesnt affect mpg but just do it)
plugs
check for the ghost KS code (assuming u have no other codes what so ever)
make ur car light, throw the subs out of the trunk if u have any, stop picking up fat chicks thats a no no.
tire pressure
cut down use of AC
use 91 gas
do longer trips instead of turning the car on and off frequently
stop idling for no reason
make sure tranny fluid is fresh so that it shifts better and u drive in higher gears to lower RPM
smooth out the throttle, dont jab it on red lights
make sure calipers not sticking
put an insane wing on the car to create some downforce and gain 23645 mpg (not)

my maxi averages 23 mpg right now on shell v power (bone stock almost all city)

dont forget that on these cars the gas guage goes down real fast from the half to the 1/4 full mark, so getting 250 Mi on a half tank doesnt mean u get 500 on a full tank...

fuel injector cleaner and tire pressure added about 50 mpg to my tank.
i just bought this car about two weeks ago - i havent got around to the plugs or sensors yet, but im sure that will help as well. with 4th gen maximas tho the plugs come with a platinum tip so they tend to last a lot longer than an average set.

check all that has been mentioned above.

i get a consistant 26-27(440-450 miles) mpg mostly highway running shell vpower 93 so 250 miles to a tank is pretty bad.

Don't expect much of a change if you do alot of city driving. If you do mostly highway and your getting 250 then you need a tuneup.

dude, its old and you need to anty up and do a few things. clean the maf, crc on the whole housing and hot wires, air filter, plugs, ks is a possibility cause i'm only getting 300 or less to the tank full and i've had that code since i bought the car, bg fuel system and engine treatment, ( can be bought at dealer for 8.00 ) and go with no less than 89 or higher cause the 87 is $hit. and jack rabbit starts at the light will munch the gas up pretty fast as previously stated. >>>> good luck and ease up on her, a little tlc goes a long way!!!!

From SJ to LA is about 360 miles and I can make it on one tank. In the city, it gets about 21mpg with my style of driving.

I think going 91 octane should help highway driving but I am not sure it helps much in the city. When the KS senses pinging, ECU enrich the fuel mixture amongst other actions and screws up the gas mileage.
