hey guys i'm new to this site. i own a white 95 max gle w/ 100k miles in it. drives cool. waiting for my max to come out the shop so i can install my new eibach springs and apex universal dunk muffler. i've been wanting to swap my 95 front bumper to the 97+ bumper. i went to the dealer and ask and they say it is possible but i would have to get other parts behind the bumper also such as reinforcement bars and shock absorbant and stuff like that. i ask for the price for the parts alone and it came out to be in the $700s. i know this can be done because i've seen it before on another max but can it be done with a lower price? what i need to know is what actual parts i REALLY need to make this conversion and how to make this conversion and can this be a do-it-yourself thing. also once i make that conversion will the stillen smx grill fit on the 97+ bumper. i know the headlight shape are the same for all 95-99 model and it appears that the shape (not design) of the grill are the same also, so i don't see why it wouldn't fit with the new 97+bumper right? i've been wanting to do this for so long and now i'm ready to do it. please help.

Check out,

http://www.autodirectsave.com they sell all the stuff for the bumper alot cheaper then Nissan does, also if you are decent with your hands you should not have any trouble doing it yourself with the help of a repair manual.

Grille

The grille is not a direct swap. The sides are different lengths.

Forgot to mention, too, that http://www.partscomponents.com has pretty good prices on body parts for the Maxima.

this is what i saw on a swapped max front bumper. the max was dark green. it was 95-96. it had 97+ front bumper. 95-96 grill. left headlight is 97+ and right headlight is 95-96. why they have it like that i don't know. i'm assuming that if u can directly swap the headlight w/o changing the grill then i suppose that one i make the bumper swap then i can buy the smx grill to replace my grill. i've also seen a champagne 95-96 max with erebuni kit with 97+grill and headlight. and i've seen a beige 95-96 max with 97+ bumper only with original grill. don't know what to make of all these. can someone give me a difinite answer as to what i can do as far as swapping parts.

Re: The bumper does not affect the grill,

so does that mean that the bumper can be swapped directly without buying any other parts.
