Lug stud/bolt broke off?

Alright, so i was changing my rims and one of the locking lug nuts was really hard to take off.

After WD-40ing it and pulling it, the lug stud (if thats what you call it) snapped off with the nut.

Can i just buy a new bolt, or do i need something else?
How do you go about changing a lug stud?
I really have no idea how or where to even start.

I did search..
Thanks for the help!

You can buy a new stud. They're usually sold in packs of 5, but you may be able to buy a single one at nissan.

you can buy a single stud at an Advance or Autozone or any auto parts store. i think they can be hammered in from behind, or maybe even welded as well, im not sure about that part.

or of course ride around with 4 lug nuts, lol. i had a stud snap on each of the front wheels while changing out wheels one day.

They way I always changed studs was using power tools...

Hammer out the old, then Insert the stud from behind and add several washers, followed buy a lug nut and hand tighten. Make sure the stud is seating properly, the washers are there because there are no threads near the end...

Pull out your gun, and tighten the nut until the stud enters the hub fully...

- this is the best method and the one I used when installing my spacers.

Why the hell would you weld a stud in? Very bad idea, when it comes to changing it out you're in for a big hassle.

im almost 100% positive that the studs on my 96 were welded in, not completely but at some spots. i remember this because i was going to change out a bad stud but didnt because i saw the weld and thought how will i get that off. so yeah, it may not be a good idea for a diy-er.

seems like welding in a stud would also add a little, although very small, amount of weight which could throw the balancing off.

If you have power tools, you can do the job for literally a couple bucks, thats how much my stud cost me at Napa...

50 bucks is a rape, find a friend who has power tools and buy him a six pack

i have broke plenty of them and they cost about 5 a pop.. all you need is a hammer and a couple of basic tools.. you need to take the brake caliper and bracket off, hammer out the old stud and put the new one in,just tap on it in the back to start it. then put your rotor back on and tighten it down with another lug then tighten the new one down works every time for me. hope it works for ya man
