Few people have, you have to swap all 3 connectors and some of the clusters will not work(ones that use ABS for the speed sensor)

The tabs do not line up either.

I did the cluster swap on my 4th gen.. EVERY wire has to be re-ran to the 5th gen connector.. You will need both FSM's and about 3hrs(depending on how good you are)

Here's a pic..
79k miles FTW

thanks, i knew it had been done. hopefully we can get this thread up to snuff so it has some use for others. i would think that with you being a 95 and me a 98 i would be closer in compatability with the 2k-2k1 setup. ill look through a fsm and see what i find out.

5.5 are different from the 5.0(the connectors). so the swap would require the same skill level(i guess you can call it that) But different connectors

goto nycmaximas.org and go to the 4th gen section.. its a small how-to in there in the stickies.. I believe its called "Rainy day project" or something like that.

All credit goes to Tavarish.

5.5 gen is more "advanced". It includes a trip meter that requires CAN comms to the 5.5 gen ECU to function. Also, the water temp in a Gen 5.5 is via data, not like older clusters where it see a variable voltage.

wow that cleared some stuff up.
I also noticed that PRND21 is in the center of the gauge, how does that work out?

well, it's also a spot for it on the 4th gen cluster but, they're no blubs or wires for it.. as for the position indicator on the cluster, they're just simply no wires for it coming from the 4th gen ECU for it(i believe)

I wonder if a look at the homemade manumatic wiring may shed some light on the PRND21 issue, sine the manumatic had an LED display...
