Y-Pipe sound issue, please help

First things first, this is not a question about "bees in the can".

After installing my Budget Y, I began to notice a "wind tunnel" noise emanating from the front right part of the car somewhere in the area of the glove box. This sound only shows up when I am driving 60+ mph and after about 20 minutes of driving at those speeds. The sounds comes and goes and gets quieter and louder.***What is very interesting is that if I tap the brakes, the sound completely goes away but comes right back once I let off the brakes***. For anyone who isn't sure what this may sound like, just imagine using a glass snapple bottle and blowing across the top opening when there is no top on.

Has anyone had this issue before or know what options I have? I'm going to bring the car back next week to make sure everything is tight but I hope this can be fixed.

Thanks in advance!

*UPDATE*

I just wanted to update this thread for anyone who might be experiencing similar problems with their car. As it turns out, the "wind tunnel" noise was in no way related to the Y-Pipe. It turns out that my brakes were in real bad shape and the sound was probably the calipers/pads rubbing against the rotors. I believe what happened was that the calipers froze and could not completely retract which led to the noise. Whatever the case may have been, I have replaced the brakes, and the noise is forever gone.

The End.

Sounds like your brake pad indicator is starting to touch.

I was thinking that it might be the brakes as well but because it started happening right after I installed the pipe, I dismissed it as such. Why would it start "humming" after the car drives for some time at those speeds, though? Also, wouldn't that sound be apparent at all speeds as well? All those indicators leave me feeling it has something to due with exhaust flow.

Coremanx, please speak with Judy and let her know that another person is having the same issues. For the record, I bought this pipe with the last Group Deal

How much does it cost for the Y-Pipe to be installed? I just got my Warpspeed Y-Pipe in the mail and I am a little hesitant to install it myself. Is it as easy as they say?

The install would be very simple on a new car. However, there are serious rust issues that make removing the old pipe a pain in the ****. It took my shop over 2 hours to do the install and I have a 99...

If you want to save money, try it yourself first. You might however be disheartened to learn that its impossible to remove the bolts near the cat and they have to be soldered off.

BTW, thanks for jacking my thread, lol jk

The installer told me that there were fitment issues during install but that its expected with these types of installs. Perhaps they bent something out of shape in the process and caused an air leak. I just don't understand why this only occurs at 60+ and after a good amount of driving.

Did I mention that there is also a Honda Civic Buzzing b/w 1.5 and 2.5KRPM. Its never in 1st gear though....

Nothing but heartaches after the install

It's probably just because you got a Budget...the flex sections in those tend to be poorly made. I know in my old 96 it always sounded funny, and I know it was bolted up properly because a very reliable exhaust shop looked at it after installation and said everything with installation was fine...

If I get a y-pipe, it will be the Warpspeed, no question.
