Um shot in the dark, but wouldn't a preproduction car be one that was made and used to show BEFORE they started to make that years model? And I don't think they sell those. But I could be wrong.....

I'm not sure it is possible to own a preproduction model, which are cars built for the purposes of manufacturer durability testing, and sometimes, loaned to the press for auto reviews. I highly doubt those cars would be resold.

RE: Pre-production Maxima...

I am very doubtful that Nissan would sell a pre-production Maxima. I fail to believe that they are DOT inspected and tested as well. Also, all pre-production cars are only shown at Nissan Inc. events - no dealerships or people would own them. Just trying to help.
