It could be a number of things. The misfire hints at a coil pack going bad. Or then there's the usual suspects such as the IACV and MAF.

Go for the cheapest and easiest fixes first. I had the same problem, cleaned the IACV and the problem went away.

My daughter had a similar problem and it turned out to be her MAF sensor (Mass Air Flow Sensor) It also had had new plugs installed, had a new fuel filter and it continued to stall out and surge. As soon as the MAF senson was replaced she said it ran the way it use to run. You might want to clean the MAF first and see if that helps. Use throttle body cleaner to clean it out.

You should never use throttle body cleaner on the MAF, it's a sensitive electronic component.

You can get a special MAF cleaning spray called CRC MAF cleaner that will not kill your MAF.

it seems to be too rough to be iacv. the maf may be it. i hear that the maf has a rev limiter restriction of some sort when it goes bad but i can rav past the 2500 mark. it hits a bog there but then it runs better at 4k and up. and below 1k i can barely take off in traffic. i sound like a complete newb tryin to drive a 5spd because ther is no power under 2k.

is there any way to check the maf other than spending $215 or gettoing one off a junk car. ive tried unplugging it while running and the idle just dips for a second and then gos back to normal. but the bog gets more defined and the early fuel cutoff kicks in.

It probably is the MAF...I had a similar problem on my 96. Except we found out after taking it off that a piece of my air filter was jammed in front of the MAF HAHAHA!

im going to take one off a junk car in the morning and try that out. the car is almost not drivable at the moment. so MAF's can go from good to bad over the course of about 3or4 weeks? gradually getting worse? and ohn yeah it started out just running bad in the rain or early in the morning (dew moisture). adn i took it to a mechanic just now and his code reader said maf curcit malfuciton. i checked all my wries and everything is fine, or it looks like it. if the maf off the junk car works should i just use it or is a new one worth it?

jstew, my mistake, I meant to say MAF clearner, not throttle body cleaner. I guess I got the throttle body on my mind since I cleaned it also. Sorry about that.
