changing clutch
my clutch is slipping. I have a leaking driver side axle and I'm not sure if that's what is causing my clutch to slip, I don't think that it would, right? I have about 76k on the stock clutch right now, is it just time to replace it? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Also, is repairing the driver side axle seal hard or simple? When I'm under the front of the car and I spin the front wheels with my hands, the driver side axle has some wobble coming out of the transmission.

Read the stickies...

Bad axles does not cause clutch to slip. bad axles = tires on that side might not be rotating.
driver side wobbles out of the tranny? Dangerous.... have you thought about the teeth of the axle or tranny? Better check it to make sure you didn't smooth those suckers down.

Grab that axle end where it enters the tranny. If you can push it up and down and make the stuff inside the tranny move with it, you have a shot transmission. Axle seal change won't help at all.

I mean the tranny bearings are shot. It causes leakage at the axle seals, greatly increased gear wear, and much greater likelihood of shattering a gear.
I suggest you take the car to a transmission repair shop and have them do a diagnosis. With that diagnosis in hand you can decide what to do about the problem. (Many tranny shops don't do an effective job of rebuilding Maxima trannys, and they are all very expensive).
There's a whole section in the sticky faq thread about manual trannys, you should read that.

DAVE...I pushed the axle and it move just a bit up and down, while the passenger side axle does not move at all. I cant tell if it's moving the stuff inside the tranny up and down with it because it's like 1/8" of Play. It does move in and out of the tranny about 1/2" though...any thoughts?

In and out 1/2" sounds like something really odd.
Are you moving the big rusty hunk of axle that's between the tranny and the inner rubber axle boot? This is the part that you should be trying to move to find tranny bearing play. It should move in/out just slightly, like less than 1/16". If it moves up/down or side/side, that indicates bearing wear in teh tranny.
The axle itself, between the two rubber boots, can move in/out by design to allow for suspension travel and steering. 1/2" sounds about right.

I think that my differential has the worn out bearing, but just on the driver side though. Since I bought the quaife ATB diff, I'll probably use this opportunity to install that...dealership quoted me$1,000 or so. Also, are the differential bearing both the same size? the phone tech at the dealership said they are both the same size, but I always thought there was a small/big one.

The carrier bearings are identical on open diff models. Different on VLSDs.
I'm surprised a dealer is willing to install an aftermarket diff for you, and maybe more surprised that they'd be competent to do so.
