The guy I bought my car from has one glass lense on it and the other factory. Someone crashed into him and messed up the other one. So I have to buy a set anyway. Unless I find someone selling just one! But it looks gr8 and alot better than stock!

The glass lenses are the same shape as the 95-96 lenses, they will not fit on the 97-99 headlight housings.
I have these lights, however I bought them to do a retro...

Well, a temporary fix for your headlights - im not sure if you tried this or not, but its worth a shot.

Either use nail polish remover (should come right off with paper towels)
or try rubbing compound, then polish after.

You can also try wetsanding.

yea i already tried that.. the problem is that in the manufacturing process they apply some clear coat over the head light lense... if u wet sand u are removing that and u can NEVER get back the original clarity...

Yes you can, myself and many others have done this as well. You wetsand with either 1000 or 2000 grit. Then once the lens is completely smooth you have to buff it with a plastic polish. The shine will come back and you will not be able to see all the scratches.

yea i know iv done that.... i used like 30 coats of polish and wax on both the inside and outside of the lense... i mean it looked ok for a couple of months but then some of the haze comes back...

i used 800 grit 1000 grit 2000 grit and like i said about 30 coats of plastx polish and 30 coats of wax.... im not completely satisfied.. .thats why i want these since they are glass...

What did you buff it with? Ive done this to numerous headlights and havent had any issues.

the plastic ones i bought a few years ago for the 97-99 convert is starting to get a little hazzy. hope those glass ones last longer for you. i hear u can buy a thin style clear sheet of lamin-x or some equivilent protective sheet to shield those lights from knicks and scratches and cracks.. might be good for you cause that aftermarket glass will prob be pretty thin and not hte best grade of glass.

I use to have that kit, With regular bulbs they suck more than stock, however with an PNP HID kit they are way better than stock. Since you have projectors in your stock I would swap the projectors over.

way easier fix!!!

You need to go to your nearest Wal*Mart, go to the automotive section, and find yourself some PlastX, made by Meguiar's. It's real affordable, and real easy to use. I used it on my I30 back when i had it, and it was amazing. I wish i took a before/after picture...but if the problem is you want your lenses clear again, it is ridiculous to go buy new headlights when you can just clean them.

I PROMISE it works like a charm!

--------------------------

EDIT: sorry man, i didn't read far enough to notice you had already done that. it was worth a shot...

hey flava 24/7, i'm assuming your hood is carbon fiber... is the trunk the same? or is it just painted black? i've also got a white max (97 SE), and i'm planning on replacing all of my lights with ones that have black housings... i was weary at first, because i didn't think black on white would look that great, but after seeing (first), the new Mazda 6, and then your max, i changed my mind... oh yeah, your LED taillights, is that a custom job on your part, or can i buy some from some'rs? other than the lights and general performance stuff, i'm thinking real hard about adding a pearl blue topcoat... got the idea by accident... i was walking around the dealerships one night at about 10 or so, and parked my car under some lights and noticed a sweet looking blue tint to the car... i was hooked from that moment on... modest and flashy at the same time...

oh, just noticed something... i haven't seen any factory style foglights that would match the black headlights, etc. anybody know where i can find some?

Yes, the trunk is CF also.

I purchased LED boards from another Org member who was making them for a short time, Kevlo911. I then tinted my outer tails so that they are a black/clear style. So yes, kind of a custom setup.

I have also done this. I had the car painted last year with a different white from a 2006 Escalade and had them add more pearl to it.

WOW, old bump.
The ones I posted in this thread was my older setup that Maxgtr did for me using a set of BMW X5 projectors.
My current setup is a true dual projector retro that I did using TSX projectors and some H3 minis.
