Max stalling and hesitation issue.
Max stalling and hesitation issue.
Just recently my 95 Max has been stalling out when I slow down or when I stop for a red light. Also, when I'm cruising down the highway and give it gas it has been hesitating on & off.I just had it in the garage to get it worked on and had the knock sensor replaced along with the front and rear 02 sensors.I also had the iacv replaced about 6 months ago all the while keeping up with all of my maintenance recommendations.I'm beginning to think the problem may have something to do with the MAF sensor or fuel filter.I've scheduled an appt. with my mechanic for this week but I really would like to hear what you guys think could be causing this. Also,it only stalls when its in drive, never in park.HELP me out fellas.

I can do a write up on how to replace the MAF. It is very very simple. The MAF has four bolts that have to be unscrewed and a cable that has to be detached. It isn't any harder than replacing your air filter.
check on the org. i just bought one for 43 shipped. In fact...i'll just give you my WTB thread so you can see the offers.
btw my car is doing the same thing but its a 5 speed and a bunch of other **** is different. heres the thread.

I unplugged it hoping it would go into auto/safe mode and i could tell that the MAF was the problem but maybe the fact that i dont have an iacv throws the whole thing off, cause the car just stalls out.

My daughter has a 1995 Nissan Maxima car doing exactly what you described yours is doing. I replaced the MAF sensor and it is now running great. This MAF sensor did not throw any code either. You can also take it off and spray it from the front and the back with a MAF sensor spray cleaner and clean it. If you do this make sure you spary the MAF cleaner from the front and back so you can clean the complete hot wire sensing unit. There has been some success in doing this and it saves a lot of money. It is well worth trying.

I have that spray, i tried it and I think it worked a little bit but it still dips real real real low when i come out of gear.
I'll let everyone know if the MAF solves my problem although, keep in mind i've got a 3.5 swap with an out of spec TPS and no iacv.
Thanks everyone for all the input. From hearing all these stories I def think this is a MAF sensor problem. My mechanic is going to check if the other guy that recently replaced some parts for me actually cleaned it.I'm hoping just a good cleaning will do the job cuz I really can't afford to keep dropping money on this.I'll keep you guys posted.
i sold someone a maf recently because i bought the maf thinking it was the problem but it turned out to be the torque converter was locking up it always act up in gears never in park
