I have a stock 97 SE with 15" Eagle GA's and stock suspension. I find that from about 80MPH on up, the car feels shaky; light vibration, just doesn't feel glued to the road. By comparison, my 89 Civic feels more connected to the road @ 80-85!

What're the best mods? I'm thinking upgrading wheels and tires and also stiffening up the suspension, but I'm not sure of the best approach.

drop it, when i first got my car, driving on the high/freeway felt like a boat, really unsafe feeling. get some sprint spings and koni struts and you are good to go. you will feel glued to the raod, then for the twisties, to make it feel even better and tighter, get a FSTB and a RSB. what's next you ask? get some wider wheels and some sticky tires. you will feel glued to the road after these mods but it's not that nice on your wallet..

RE: Suspension Mods...

The thing you will be looking at are tires, strut and sway braces, and lowering springs. Tires will always be the largest improvement in grip. Sway bars, strut braces, and lowering springs are all better for handling and keeping your tires on the road through twists and turns. A cheap and effective solution for you would be to buy an F.S.T.B. and an R.S.B. Lowering springs will also work, but they will also give you bump-o-rama in ride quality. Tires are great but much more money than the other choices. If you are in need of new tires, you might choose to look at Kuhmos - cheap, efficient, and grippy. Anyway, www.Street-Beat.com will sell you an F.S.T.B. for $48 or so at your door, and you can buy an Addco R.S.B. from Pep-Boys (or so I have heard). Just trying to help .
