Car audio question....series or parallel?
How should i connect my amp and subs. I got a 500/1 Jl amp and 2 10"W3s putting out 250 each. i was wondering which way would be the best. Oh i hooking up the amp to a Bose system not a high powered head unit so i will be using a RCA converter. So does anybody know which way i should hook it up.

If you have like Dual4ohm's on each sub, you can wire the whole thing parallel to get 1ohm load (to the amp) .. im not sure if your amp supports that or not.
If theyre dual2ohms, you can wire series on each sub, then parallel between them, to get a 2 ohm load.
If theyre Single4ohms, you can wire parallel to get 2ohm load.
Hopefully i made sense
I'm setting it up like this specs on my amp and subs
Subs:http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/10w3.html
Amp:http://www.jlaudio.com/amps/5001.html

Ok, the amp put says it can go down to 1.5ohm.
The subs are available in: Dual 2 ohm, Dual 4 ohm or Dual 6 ohm
If you parallel everything according to the pics, you should go with the Dual 6 ohms version of the subs to get the 1.5ohm lod you want.
go here to play with it yourself. treat each voice coil as a "speaker" ..

Hope it helps you out.. that lil calculator kicks *** for the odd numbers (3, 6)

Its a series/parallel connection giving me 4ohms, if i get it down to 1.5ohms eventually the amp will blow overtime. Plus i want clearity, so i can differentiate between bass note not just loudness.

Many people run their competition cars at 1ohm. (Class D amps) My setup is a DEI1100D at 1ohm .. my roommate has the exact same setup.
