I have a 98 white SE with tan leather. I had 35% on at first but thought it was tooooo light, so I went to a shop and the guy laid 25% over top of the 35% and that was toooo dark. Even the police told me so by giving me a ticket and I then had to get it removed. I want to get it retinted, but I also don't want the hastle from the police. What shade can I get that will still give me some privacy? I was thinking about a tint with a slight mirror look to it, but I don't want to look like a piece of aluminum foil. I have seen tints in like a gray/bronze mirror look, but I don't know what it is called, please help..........

What is the darkest that your state allows? Get that.

well I have a black 96' maxima and I put semi-mirrored 40% on it and it looks sharp at night it looks light but if it is cloudy outside good luck seeing who is in the car
In Maryland I think the legal limit is 35% but I heard that it was changed to 40% but any way I did not get a ticket for it for a year that i had it on my car and I dont think I will

Try 30, but don't put it on top of 35 or 25 or both.

That was a crazy thing to do. Anyway, 30 might be too low, but cops do not have enough time to stop you and check it with a light meter :-)

here in the state of texas u can have ur back windshield and rear doors as dark as u want but in the front it should get no lower than 35% which is the standard tint i believe. i have limo on the back windshield and rear doors. two front is 35%. the person who is tinting ur window should know the states requirement. also if they are professional they should put their sticker on the front tint to endorse their work. so since they tinted ur window two dark and u got a ticket u can hold them liable for the ticket. well at least that's how it works in texas.

Most states it's 35%. Which kinda sucks.

Go with 25 to 30 on the rear and 35 on the side windows. The cops typically can't tell on 25/30% if its just on your rear window. and the 35%on the side windows will actually tint better because the rear window is absolutley huge and is letting most of the light in anyway. This way you stay mostly legal(4 side windows) but get a darker look.
Metallic tint of any type - bronze, silver, etc is purely a prefernce.Bronze can look good on white.
It looks good on some colors but can also and does attract more attention from the police since its typically more Opaque from more angles. Which is really a crock since they ship all sorts of explorers and other SUV hogs strait from the factory with limo tint. Burns me.

i'd recommend getting Llumar 35% platinum series tint. My friend got it on his lexus all around and it looks awesome, it's got a gray mirror look to it, but it's not overly mirror like.. if ya know what i mean. They seem pretty dark for 35%, i guess it's because of the way they reflect light rather than absorb it. I'm almost definitely gonna get those, my black ones are starting to fade now, must be some crappy tint.

In Georgia, and probably most states, there is no limit on tint for trucks and SUVs. They can have 5% legally.

I have a metallic pigmented tint that is 30 percent but looks like it is 5 percent... 100 percent legal and because the tint is metal itself it will never fade

I've got the 35% metallic tint on a Starfire blue maxima. IT looks good at night, but really is too light for the daytime...I thought about getting another layer of 35% on there, how dark would that really make it? Hmm, do want darker though.

Well, I'm using 20 perecent, and it's still too light. I shoulda gone for 13 percent, but that would probably be easy to spot (there are guys here who have 6 perecent, tho). With the 20%, if I see a cop I usually open the sunroof shade to let some light into the interior, and it looks lighter from the outside.
