am i missing something stupid, or do i have to take the bumper off to change the bulb?? also if someone knows the model # of the bulb right off hand thatd be appriciated also.....

You gotta take a plastic black screw off right next to the foglight housing, and pop off this rectangular plastic piece. This piece covers two screws that allow you to unscrew and remove the entire foglight glass housing. Once this is off you can just unhook a metal clip inside and the bulb pops right out when you pull on it. The bulb you need is a 55w H4 i believe. 85w ones are brighter, but I dont recommend them because they might melt the wiring harness.

the correct bulb you need is an H3 i would recommend you stick to stock bulbs.i dont want to even tell you how much money i've spent on aftermarket bulbs they just continued to burn out i used the pias i've tried all kinds.some people get lucky as far as the bulbs lasting but mine would burn out after just 4 days somtimes.so i swicthed back to regular stock H3 havent had a problem since hope this helps..

 

Philips has a H3 version of it's "Blue Vision" for fogs. Think that REDMAX got some but never heard anything from him on how they perform.

I bought APC H3's to replace my foglights and they burned out after about 2 months.

 

To preserve the life of the foglight bulbs (at least this what I know for 97-99 models) there is a rubber piece I think on the bottom of the lense on the outside which somewhat softens up vibrations that occur when driving. Maybe if you put some sort of padding on the top and bottom of the lense and make it snug with the bumper fog light frame, it will help soak up the vibrations which indeed I've learned is the reason for the little filament inside to always seem to break since its extremely hot.

 

I put the PIAA 55W Extreme White in my fog lights. They have a really nice HID color to them. Nice and white only a very slight hint of blue. If you go wiht 85W bulbs there only gonna last you 2 months tops. The excessive heat and the small amount of air in the assembly just frys them.

 

I bought Phillips Blue Visions 9004 bulbs, and they look no different than stock whatsoever. I was a little upset, i thought i was going to get some bright white, maybe even a little bluish tint, and they look yellow like stock.

I agree with njmaxseltd. I have the 55w Piaa Xtremes and they are very white and bright, MUCH better than stock.
