I posted a thread before asking if anyone had any predictions on this race. Only one person replied and he said that he thought that the Z34 would bury me. I have a drop in KN air filter on my max, i just bough it a little over a month ago, and that is the only so called performance mod. I have a PR CAI in the mail, but i wanted to race him before it. His Z34 has stock dual exhaust, but he got some "performance mufflers" or some ****. So he thought he was pretty tough. Anyway, we stopped on the way home from work, as we work together, and we raced. I smoked his ***, we had planned on a quarter mile, but had a half car lenth on him halfway through the race, and i eased up because it was a back road. I had proved my point Now, everyday at work i can rip on him. So, for the guy who thought he would smoke me, well, just goes to show you not to bet against my max.

yup i was the person who said the Z34 was a pretty good match... and i'll still say the same...whethers its the 3.4L DOHC 215hp V6 or the 3.8L OHV 200hp V6
and you know what? even though you beat one... i'd still say its a great match and i wouldnt be surprised if another Z34 smokes an auto max...

I raced one Z34 lumina when my I had my honda civic and it was bone stock. I ran 16.20@85.06 in that civic... when i raced the lumina, we raced at 2 lights on a long straight road. I pulled about 1.5 lengths by 100 mph each time, im assuming it was an auto Z34, because it was a female driving with a male friend in the passenger seat. my stock civic ex just slowly pulled on it. I don't know what times you have run in your maxima, but i'd expect you to win every time... they weigh about 3400 lbs.

i dunno what kind of Z34s are around you but there is this guy i always race. he lives a few streets away and i always see him. i always smoke him but he always wants to race, so i just smoke him again and again. then one day, his car is loud, crazy loud. we pull next to eachother and he revs and ask if im ready. i said sure, smoked him, next stop sign i asked him what he did, he was runnin open headers...

LOL! He was probably changing his setup every time he came back for more smack down! Now you've got him doing crazy stuff... Hopefully, he will come to grips with the reality that he will never beat you and end the insanity.

I had a 92 Olds Cutlass with the 3.4 and auto. They take a while to hit the powerband but they are strong with those 4 cams. 5-speeds with this motor are quick, but they are also heavy. BTW, If you think that the max has a small aftermarket, the avalability of performance parts for these cars makes ours look like we have the selection of a 5.0. Too bad because those cars had a lot of potential. When GM started the 3.4 they had 280 hp, but they couldn't build a fwd transmission to hold the power, so they de-tuned the motor so it would match up. Too bad because those were pretty nice cars for being american.

ok... i know this is a max forum... but the Z34s arent bad cars...
a '92 with basic mods was running0-60s 7.5 and QMs 15.3s at 90mph....
MT quotes a 97 or something at 0-60 in 7.8 and QM at 15.5 @85 or so mph
if it wasnt for the tranny probs they'd be puttin down 280 easy...
no i'm not saying every z34 will beat a max... but its sure possible!
