I have a 97 GLE with 50k on it. The original brake pads are long gone and I really don't know whats on there now but I HATE them. They squeak when I stop and they have this HORRIBLE moaning sound to them when I come to the very end of a stop or when I let off them. I mean I apply the brakes to stop and they sqeak and then right as I stop them moan. Or when I am at a traffic light and I let off enough so the car rolls but still with the brake on I get the sound. It is driving me crazy especially after riding in a new Nissan that doesn't do it. Is it the pads or what?? Thanks!

My porterfields make the grabbing moaning sound. I've gotten used to it.

Grabbing is the perfect way to describe it. My dad just bought a new Pathfinder and its brakes are perfectly quiet. Thats what really made me notice mine. Would some of that blue goo (isn't that it?) that stops squealing help at all? How would I find out what kind of pads I have. Are they marked?
