I dont know, but I know they are pretty quick. I have an Auto and this guy I know has an Auto Grand Am. So we raced one day, and he SMOKED me. Neither one of us had any mods at that time. He beat me by about 3 car legnths.

Dude, that guy must be modded cause I raced one and smoked him by like 3 car lengths. They are sloooooowwww pieces of s@#$.

Maybe you mean Grand Prix cause those with the superchargers are pretty fast.

i don't know the EXACT stats but my friend's boyfriend has a 2000 grand am GT and when we raced i pulled him easily through 2nd and 3rd. they r peppy but also remember these things will only go like 112 due to a governor hehe.....btw those gtps really aren't that quick cuz they're heavy as ****!

A Grand Am GT with the 3.4L will put down consistent 7.5 0-60s... they are quick.... the manual to my knowledge is only available with the base 2.4L DOHC I-4.... prob do 0-60s in low 8s....
and with a SC haha a Grand Am will do easy sub 6 second 0-60s

Um.. I beg to differ on the governor thing, I raced one about 2 months ago and he stayed about 2 1/2 cars back all the way to about 135.. I was like WFT?!?!

Today I was toy'n w/ y2k1 and we would go between voids in late traffic so there was lil 1/4 mile blasts between the next group of cars. We only had two good shots @ this and both times I whooped em'! Started out @ 50/55 mph and consensualy ripped it up. I was in third to bout 55k rpm all the way through 5th, never really getting above 110 mph! He was there but fading!!

I guess ponty's making a more powerful Grand Am. I forget where I heard this from, but when I read it, the numbers I remember are ~250hp and lower 6's/upper 5's. I can't remember, but there were a few other things that made me raise my eyebrows (RWD?) Anyone else hear about this?

Maybe he removed the governor but I remember distinctly glancing at the speedo and seeing it at around 130.. I remember thinking "When is this guy going to fall back?"

I was toying around with a Hyundai Tiburon today.. I felt bad for the guy cuz he had that look like "My car is the ****". We ran twice, once from around 30 to about 75, then from a stoplight. Needless to say after the stoplight race he stayed back about 10 cars behind never passing me..

GTP

Don't know about the Grand Am but the Grand Prix GTP goes 6.8/15.1. The GT was tested faster than the GXE.

Actually, this has been a prototype that they have been playing with for about a couple of years now. I don't think it will make production but with the Firebirds being axed, it may. Then again, there is no market for it. It's all going to SUVs. Most likely not but those engineers have a lot fun doing those projects though.

Here is a good site that I have found.

http://www.edmunds.com/

go to used cars

once you choose your car

go to SPECS & SAFETY

for some cars it says NA

They're as fast as a stock 5spd 4th-gen. 0-60 in about 6.7.
