Window Tint

Window tint
well actually it depends on where you are from for me for instance it is illegal to have anything darker than 70% on the driver and passenger side front windows. There is no regulation however for the back windows. there is a site that tells you what is legal in your state but the best thig to do is just call up a tinting shop and ask them. Hope this helps.

Re: Window tint
Make sure you get the job done right at the first time because when you want to take it off and redo it then it's pain in the a$$ to peel it off from you max.
I prefer sunguard dealer who has lots of experience.
Here's my new complete 20% tint by Sunguard.

My tail? hehe it was the left over tint pieces he gave me.
It looks good and matches my overall dark body & windows color pretty good.
However, I'm going to purchase the tail light spary and spary the upper signal lights, too.
hey! BTW do you guys like my police scanner antenna on my rear glass? I thought it was pretty unique.

30% tint all around, I paid around $250 for it, legal limit in MN is 50% and you cannot tint the front windshield in any way. Definetly goto a place that has a good reputation, I got mine done at a shop my dad recommended that has done work on atleast 5 of his cars, all of them perfect. The job they did on mine was flawless and has a lifetime warranty.
Goodluck with your windows!

I got the VA legal limit which is 35% in the back and 50% up front. I guess it's dark enough at night or when it is overcast outside, but otherwise I think the tint isnt dark enough and I could kick myself for not going darker originally.
Going 35% all around isnt much of an improvement, only 15% or 20% all around would be worth it for me. Cops however, are particularly vigilant when it comes to tint around here so Im not sure if it's worth it to shell out another 150 for new tint not to mention the time and effort to get the old tint off, and then risk getting busted.

Go iLLegal !!
I have 15% charcoal Llumar tint all the way around. It has a lifetime warranty and I'm happy with it, they did a great job. I only paid $140 bucks $CASH$, Because 15% is illegal so they don't want to get fined $20,000 bucks. 35% isn't worth putting on a car, you can see right through it "Point-less".
Let the
come out of you and go Illegal!

some one on this board got an $86 fine for having illegal tint
the downside to tint is people think you have something to hide my friend got his windows tinted and within a week someone broke in and stole his $1200 sound system
im gonna go with the %20 so my leather seats wont get so hot in the summer

But if oyu have a choice of the manufacturer of the tint, try to stick with either Formula One or Llumar. I just got my tinted 35% all around, but it isn't dark enough, although 32% is legal limit. Would you believe MAJOR company in the Atlanta area will go illegal. What a jipp.

Mirror tint? Yuck...I thought that was only allowed on Civics...
I used to think there was no limit on what you could have on the rear windshield here. They never specifically said "rear windshield" in the stature. But there is, and it was the same as the rear body windows. I got a moving violation (not a fix-it ticket) for my all-20% tint here, went to trial and everything (I ended up taking it off right before trial and getting teh charge dropped)...not worth having insurance go up for...
Of course, then, I drove an integra. I got pulled over for the tint specifically. That's a younger-person type car. I don't know if a cop would pull over a maxi just for tint...but I know how you guys speed around, so know the limit and know the consequences![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
My maxi has dark-*** tint. Dunno where it's at, the dealership said "It's legal," but it's not. It's kind of old (a little purply), but dark. We'll see if I get pulled over or not now.

Well here in good old Utah we have the same 35% tint law. I would go with at least 15% on the back window (the big one) or even 5%, they can't make you pull that off. Then put whatever on the rest of it. I put 35% to keep the
off my back. The fronts are still pretty light on a sunny day, the back is a bit darker because of the 15% I have on the back windshield. I'd opt for quantum tint though, it's metallized so will last alot longer and gives a mirror type finish to it, not ricey looking like the full on "mirror, mirror, on my Max, who's the fastest of them all" type stuff...yeah so the girlfriend can't do her makeup or hair in the windows but hey...we're not a driving cosmetic stand!!!!! ![fro](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/fro.gif)
Oh yeah, check my profile for pics of the 15% and 35% window tint. This was taken on a about 100 degree day so it was really bright outside

I'm in CA, so it doesn't matter what kind of tint you have. It's illegal (in the front); even just a clear film. But everyone gets tinted anyway. I've had my tint for over 4 years now; no problems. Unfortunately the tint on my sister's car had to be taken off because a cop pulled her over. And she has a 2000 Sentra. Sucks big time because she had the tint only a few months.
