Theives don't really steal really expensive cars. The most stolen cars are the ones that share alot of body/engine parts. ie... Accord, Camry, GM car etc.. Theives steal them and take the parts they need and sell them to body shops that are on the scam. Or your whole car might be cut up for parts(sum of parts > than whole car as unit) Some scams involve stealing the entire interior. This makes the car an insurance "total". Theives buy back the car at a cheap price, put the interior back on and voila!, sell the car at retail.
Note: These scams are well known now but are an ongoing problem.

that sure helps explain things a bit. but say a fourth gen and fifth gen are standing right next to each other. wouldnt they rather take the newer car? so like a 6-7 year old car with quite a bit of mileage is of no interest right?

No, probably the 4-gen would get stolen becuase their are more of them on the road(that need parts, that have been crashed etc..)All depends on what the theives intentions are. Joyrides? Then yeah the more expensive/fast one. Parts? Then the one that has a better market.

if they are just some punk kids they will steal whatever and joy ride around in it.. here the pros steal cars and then they load them onto crates at the docks and ship them away and then sell them elsewhere they wouldnt bother with something fancy or recognizable because of the fact it would be easier to get caught so pimp your car out and make it one of a kind but then you still have to worry about those punks that dont know what they are doing and wil go for anything

well it works like this:
most expensive car that are stolen are found in crates that are on their way out of the country...
maximas are stolen for parts... the max apprears 3x in the list of most stolen cars for n.y.
look at it like this.. for one airbag you could get 600.00 if you know where to take it....
by stealing a maxima you could strip it and make 3000.00 in a day..........
