I think my 96Max SE¡¯s steering is overpowered and feels too light for the high speed driving.
I like the manual steering wheel¡¯s heavy feel and yes! I know parking could be SUX!
I thought about disconnecting the power steering sys of Max and make it feel better at high speed driving.
What do you think about this Mod. guys?
Has anyone done it before and how I can I completely shut down the system without damaging it?
Thanks in advance.

The handling characteristics of a car are determined by its suspension and tires. Disabling your power steering will not improve the handling. It will increase the steering effort, nothing more.

What I really need is that heavy feels of manual steering wheel at high-speed driving because to me MAX is somewhat overpowered.
Anyone think it will helps achieving this characteristic?

This has been discussed various times and the short answer would be no, its not easily possible.

Steering feel is not necessarily linked to overall handling of the vehicle. While firmer feel might inspire confidence in high speed driving, it will not make the car turn any more quickly or with more stability than boosted steering.

97+ Maximas have speed sensitive power steering.

and the SE's of 95-95 do. It has been thought that you could use a smaller? pulley for the power steering pump so that the amount it contributes is less.

Cars that don't have power steering may have different steering racks with different steering ratios. Also, steering geometry can be different in cars designed strictly for manual steering with different caster, toe, etc... so that the steering wheel can react differently in the hands in terms of kick back, wheel return to center, effort, pull and stuff like that.

power steering issues

my brother's 95SE is a flimsy turning piece of crud when it comes to the power steering. I noticed quite a difference in that and my 97SE. Even more so when I put on the wider rims, there seems to be a bit more resistance when you turn the wheel due to increased road hugging friction by the Z rated tires. I guess that might be the only plausible thing for you to change... my 2 cents
