Alright.. here is my dilemma... first of all, I wanted bigger rims, but I have to replace 2 tires - so it looks like I'm going to be waiting on the bigger rims...

now my question is this..

I have sort of decided on kumho ecsta supra 712's, b/c of their low price 100$ a tire isn't too bad to fit 17's..

buut, right now I am running 215/40's on my 17" rims which is too low of profile.. throws my spedo off, and makes the rim/tire combo look pretty small even with my car lowered...

my rear dunlop sport w10 tires are in 95% tread life, while my front ones are about 5% treadlife left haha...

should I purchase 2 215/40 tires to just replace the front and run with it, or should I just go all out and buy 4 225/45 tires and hope that it makes them look big enough to satisfy me for a while ? if I do this, is there any place I could sell my 2 dunlop w10 215/40/17's ?

Thanks!

225/45/17s

The 225/45/17 size is bigger and more accurate, only 1.34% off of stock at the worst. Your existing setup is at least 5.5% off. That's alot. Plus, the 225/45/17 size, compared to 215/40s will fill the wheel well much better.

I see your running just what I'm looking at... do you have any pics ? Are you 5spd, and is traction an issue w/ 225's ? I know w/ my 215's its not the best (2nd gear can get away from me sometimes if not careful)

Sorry, no pics as of yet. Yup, 5 speed. Traction in the dry is fantastic. In the wet is not bad either, your 215s would probably feel a bit better in the wet because thinner is better. In the snow, forget about it!! I switch to Gen 3 15" wheels with 205 tread for the snow. 225s are terrifying in the snow.
