225/45/17 for 4th gen max

I just ran into a good used set of 17s for $350. I'm planning on getting em. They come wrapped with 225/45/17 tires. I rode in them today and they ride smooth. I realize that a 225/50/17 may be more preferable, but I'm wondering if 45 series is too skinny of a side wall. I can always get 50 series in the future. As long as I don't get any bends or bad pot holes. Let me know your thoughts.

it will just make your speedo of a bit. IMO I would not spend money on the wrong size tires.

These will fit and run fine for you. Most recommended size for 17's is what you mentioned 225/45/17. I'd stick with it and see how you like the ride and handling. A 50 series would give a bit smoother ride because of a higher profile. The size tire you mentioned will do you fine, though.
