When you do an oil change, in what direction do you unscrew the oil plug? clockwise? I've tried both clockwise and counterclockwise and it doesn't budge. I need help, i've tried spraying a degreaser and it still doesn't turn. If I can figure out what direction it unscrews I can apply more pressure to loosen it, instead of tightening. Any ideas?

All bolts go counter clock wise to loosen. In the event you can not get the bolt loose with your own power, try a breaker bar. I whould amagine you don't know what that is? Well picture a pipe on a fence, which is a hollow metal pole. You can buy hollow metal poles in any home depot in varies sizesOnce you get it just stick the pole over your 14mm wrench while it is attached to your oil drain bolt. After you get the bolt off put a dab of fresh oil on your oil drain bolt, this will make it easier to remove in the future. Have fun and buy a Chilton Repair manual or something!

My plug was also very tight. Turn counter-clockwise (opposite the way a clocks hands turn - ok?) Also replace the copper gasket on the drain plug. Mine was so crushed, I had to carefully use a jewlers screw driver to pick at the edge and get under it and pry it up off the plug. The proper torque is like 30-40 nm. Thats not all that tight. The copper gasket makes the seal.

If the plug is really that tight, I would recommend that you replace the plug when the you change you oil. And definitely replace the copper crush gasket. Overtightening the drain plug can sometimes damage it.

And yeah...righty tighty, lefty loosie.

One of the few exceptions is the plastic screw for LP gas tanks......

I guess I got lucky. When I removed the first oil filter, I was able to unscrew left with my hand. I was a little hard, but I did it. The only thing I did'nt like was some oil dripped on part of the chassis and a wiring harness.
