Hey, Im just curious what the average cost of a "decent" intake system is for our maxes. I was going to do a make-shift cone attachment (which involved hacking up the airbox lid), and replacement lids are $150 CDN!! I wanted to get a spare incase I had to un-mod my car. I also paid about $60 for the filter. So can I get a real setup for around $200-300?
Thanks alot,

intake

Dude the JWT intake runs $125 US from Cattman, I got it for around $100 at a local shop...

So I'm guessing $175 CDN for a JWT, and no need to buy a new box, perfect fit w/o hacking up anything!

I just made an intake for my 97 for a total of $46. I got a cone intake on e-Bay for $25 and it was even painted blue. Then I got an adapter from summitracing.com for just under $20 after they put in their $8 handling fee. Then I needed some nuts to go on the bolts from the stock intake so I went to Home Depot and got some for $1. Works great. The only problem I ran into was summit sent me the wrong adapter and I had to drill some holes in it so it would bolt on. Supposedly the JWT and Sillen are a little bit better because they have a velocity stack which gives you maybe 1 or 2 more HP than what I did but I was mainly looking for the sound. Definitely make it yourself like I did or buy a JWT.

Do you happen to know the part # for the adapter? Thanks!

I thought CAIs were best for autos and cone intakes were best for 5 speeds. I got the cone intake because of the cost. The summit part number is GRM-10-500 and its $12.99 with free shipping but with $8 of handling. They sent me the wrong part but I just drilled some new holes and got it to work. Many others have ordered and been just fine. Good luck.
