hey guys, i just got my 96 maxima yesterday...

i got home and after a few hours i went outside to start it up again... but it wouldn't anymore... i did the usual routine to disable to cutoff switch.... but when i started it... it just clicked and didn't start... no noise nothing... like the cutoff was still on...

any ideas?

anyone know how i could disable the switch??

thanx,

frank

This may sound stupid but if you are saying that your keyless entry switch did not disable the cut-off why don't you try to put a new battery in the remote and unlock it?

hehe uhm well it's not remote... i unlock the doors manually, get in and turn the key till the lights turn on.
then i go through the antitheft procedure to disable the cutoff thing and then i turn the key the rest of the way and the car should start... but doesn't boo!

it's one that came with the car... just stops the car from starting... nothing spectacular.... all i do is put the key to the on position, and press the button... the light inside the car stops flashing and i can then proceed to start the car...

what's the oem version do? it's just a hidden button kinda thing?

I have never heard of the OEM Max alarms having any sort of cutoff switch/button. They only have the key fob that locks/unlocks/opens trunk/panics the car. Where is this blinking light? Is is to the left of the steering wheel inside one of the little black "plates" that says SECURITY next to it? That's where the OEM one is. Do your key fobs say Nissan in little letters on the bottom of them? The only thing I can think of is that you have an aftermarket alarm on your Max. One easy way to find out...does it make noise when locking/unlocking (beep/honk)? The OEM alarm does nothing but blink the lights, it makes no noise.
