hi everyone. i have a question that may be unique to this forum... i am a working musician and i carry equipment in my trunk ('95 gle). the extra weight causes my car to sit lower at the back wheels and i was wondering if there are springs/shocks, etc that i could buy that would hold more weight back there and make the car sit evenly again. any ideas? i know nothing about springs, etc, so any input will be helpful. for the record i have 15" wheels, if that matters. thanks

It maybe done if you just put some really heavy duty shocks in there.

It is the springs, not the shocks, which support the weight of the vehicle and its cargo.

Hey Maury, it's great that you're sporting the Maxima, but i agree with the others, you're gonna need a SUV for that luggage.

I think I'm going to dissent here... get a wagon. You can actually drive them like a car instead of those lumbering beasts of the highway. If you really want to raise your car there are coil spring spacers normally used for drag racing available in most auto parts stores. They go between the coils of the springs. I don't know how much these will raise the car if any, but they will prevent the car from being pushed down under a lot of weight.

you guys crack me up with the SUV thing i'm sure i scared you all by posting such a vague description... my max doesn't scrape the ground or anything - i do small solo acoustic shows and it's not a monster sound system i'm houling around. i think i'm dipping 2-3 inches when i'm fully loaded up. and it's been ok for the past 2 years like this - i just never knew about this board until a few months ago and figured i might ask around. it seems to me that if you guys can lower 3"s i should be able to raise 3. i even though of lowering the front to match the back, but nah, i still want the back up. if this changes anyone's answer, please post back. by the way, almost every time someone sees me packing up my car at the end of a job, they always say the same thing - "dude you need a truck" thanks for keeping the streak alive! i think it's cool as sh t to pull up to work in my max - i'd sell some of my gear before i got an SUV.

Yeah, I'd get a 4" lift kit from TrailMasters and put some Super Swampers on there. HAHA. Kidding aside, I agree with Weasel. I've seen the spacers he's talking about. I think you put two to a spring. They go between the coils and prevent them from compressing. I would assume the car would ride a little rougher though. Daniel B. would probably be able to tell you if these are bad for your car. Good luck.

Spacers are a last resort. The right "fix" is to replace your rear springs with stiffer units. I don't know of a supplier. You may want to explore this question with a good local brake and spring shop.

do much off-roading metallic97gxe? that is just way too high for a car that you enter in shows.

I am very proud of having the highest ground clearance on this board I have never seen so many Online "friends" here bash and dog out someone who went back to stock...like I did...what's the deal.....?

William aka Metallic97gxe 4x4 Maxima of the year....

how many on here are stock high Maxima's just palin with no suspension mods....

and how am I tooo high for car shows?.......ooh well like I will win anything anyway....

once again this Maxima I drive,I mod,and pay for is

MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so I have to deal with the horrifying fact of having a car that I can get in and out of my driveway with ease and speedbumps are easily overtaken...

yes I am venting but I can't seem to understand why everyone is so on to me going back to stock........tell me who is stock height now and will never get springs........

different stRokes for different folks

I can say that for 1 year and a half I "had" a lowered Maxima...but I got tired of that soo......

All of the mods on my car are influenced by "hanging" out on this board.....

next.......................
