There is all kinds of safe stuff you can do! The question is weather or not you want to put money into something thats got a lot of miles! Dont get me wrong the max is a 300k car, but it all depend on the love it's had! lol.

Everything except nos and perhaps a supercharger! You can do the whole exhaust, intakes, udp or any of that stuff. Just don't go for huge gains like the s/c & nos because they can be tricky for even newer/less mileage maximas

ok heres what you should do. Get an Intake, Y-Pipe, and Cat-Back exhaust, then when you are tired of your Maxima or it is getting too old then trade it in for another maxima same generation and swap the parts. Cant go wrong with that. My buddy had a 96 with 120K miles on it and then added all of the stuff I just mentioned above. well at around 149K he traded it in on a 98 Max and swapped all of the parts. I think thats the way you should go. Oh and none of those will hurt your engine at all. take care

Hey kirk.

Your still the only one so far that I have found with a real dual exhaust. Some people just use photopoint and make it look like they do.

How's the low and top end power ?

Me and my friend may be building one REAL soon.

138,000 and still going strong. see the sig. my opinion : if you have no problems out of your engine, and you dont rag it out the maxima's can take a good deal of modding. i havent had ANY engine problems (knock on wood ) out of my engine, and expect another 80 - 100k out of it.. just remember - if you mod heavily, be in a position where you can pull out of a hole if you dig one.. good luck

Craig Mack - I lost some low end torque due to the fact that I ran a 3" pipe from the cat to the Camero muffler, 2.5" is what most people run because 3" is too big. I did this so that my top end would go up, which Im proud to say it has done so dramatically. When It hits 3500 rpm you feel it push you into the seat. Just in case you wonder exactly what I did to have the dual cat-back system - here is a write up:
3" pipe for about 4" then a 3" "turbo tube" which is acting as a resonator to quiet it down(only minumally) and then 3" pipe custom bent to go to the muffler. The muffler is a V-force camero muffler that is positioned just like the stock one on the max. I then have 2.25" pipe comming directly back out to a 3.5" tip in the stock position. The other side of the muffler has 2.5" pipe(we went with different sizes to make the exhaust sound the same comming out of each pipe) which we wrapped around the spare tire thing and put a 3.5" tip on that too. I did the cut in the left side of the bumper my self and that took about 1 hour to do(I did a lot of measuring) and it is exactly symetrical to the one on the right. I also cut off part of the right side bumper, it has a little section that leads inwards towards the front of the car and I cut it off to look symetrical since the other side wouldnt have it. If you have any more questions about it please done hesitate to ask. Good luck and I hope it works well.

Yourmove - The install didnt happen, the guy who was going to help me had to work But, I might get it done on sunday.
