I got a black 1996 maxima se auto yesterday, and love it.

Anyway, I want to get clear front bumper lenses. I have seen Maximas with them and was wondering the best place to get them?

Also, I was wondering if it was possible to replace the 2 orange lights on the back (they're in the upper-outside of the taillights) with clear ones.

Thanks a lot,
Rob Anderson

Try Ebay. You might get lucky and find some bumper clears for cheap. If not, try http://www.custommaxima.com or even http://www.courtesynissan.com

As for the rear... you can't replace the orange. The only way to do it is to buy all clears and paint the bottom red.

I was told today by a member of this forum that you can take your rear tail lights out and bake them in the oven at 200 degrees for 5 minutes... Its one of those try at your own risk things... Or you can go to custommaxima.com and pay 185$ for all new clear/red tails.... Your choice, its worth a try I guess...

..

97-99's allow you to use a heat gun, or "bake" them (although I went with the heat gun method), and then replace the orange reflector with clear reflector from your local home depot.

95-96's on the other hand require you to order a set of "clear" outer bumper tail lights, and then paint them. I've never painted a set before, but I imagine you could mess it up pretty bad. (please note, you can mess up your tail lights with the heat gun, or baking em just as badly heh. I snapped my first attempt)

Since you're a 96 I'd suggest just buying a pair from the above guys unless you know a lot about painting car lights.

Nice choice on the black '96! If you go looking on Ebay, look out for the seller "bonbonshaker". He's a real jerk.

Read the past posts here about lights. There's like 200 posts on clearing the rear turn signals. Look here for some links too:

Good luck, and congrats!
