DBM,
I still seem to be having problems pinpointing what seems to be the ticking/clicking noise under my hood when the keys are in the "on" position. The engine is cold when I check it, so it's not the engine cooling off. You had said it was either the cruise control or the TPS, but that doesn't seem to be it. Here's the old thread to remind you...http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=57467

You are misquoting me. I never said the sound was coming from the Cruise Control or the Throttle Position Sensor. All I did was identify the two items marked with an oval in your posted photo. YOU are the person who said the sounds were coming from one of those two components. Have you changed your mind?

Sorry to be putting words into your mouth. I didn't mean that.Let me rephrase my last post. What I meant to say was, I examined the 2 possibilites you had mentioned but that does not seem be where the noise is coming from. In other
words, the noise is coming from somwhere beyond there.
I'm going to go check it out right now infact.

Attn: DBM

Daniel,

I've been busy lately so I haven't been able to check out the problem. Today I borrowed a friends digital camera and video taped the clicking and the area I think it's coming from. Any suggestions on what it may be?
Thanks for all you help

I just tried that attachment and it downloaded but didn't work. It might just be my computer but did it work for anyone else?

I downloaded the file but was unable to view it. WinZip wouldn't unpack it, saying the downloaded file contains errors.

Error in file #1:bad Zip file offset (Error local signature file not found): disk #1 offset: 0.

I've wasted enough time chasing this video.

I am having trouble downloading your files too. From your other image it looks like it might be the IACV hunting (it's in the same general vicinity as your circles). Bear in mind this is just a guess. THere isn't a lot of info to work from. Try this. Put your key in the ignition in the on position. Check to see if the clicking is coming from the middle connector on the IAC valve (idle air control valve). If it is I think I can help you.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to check it out whenever my car comes back from the body shop. Some a-hole did a hit and run while my car was parked, but I caught the culprit, so now my car is in for a touch-up and makeover. I'll check it out asap to see if the IAC valve is the problem.Send me your e-mail to mmswim@hotmail.com and I'll send you the file. I think it doesn't work on this server because it is zipped and then zipped again by the server, thus causing an error!
