shifting my auto trans from P to R seems to be very difficult and "notchy" at times. shifting from R on down is fine, put P to R sucks. anyone else experience this? what could this be?

Are you having this problem when you park on a hill? If so set your parking brake and it won't happen.

no just in my driveway, but the car is parked on a slight incline. i usually set the parking brake everywhere I park, but come to think of it I do normally experience it while backing out of my driveway. maybe I should shift into R, then release the parking brake? makes sense, thanks. ill check it out.

If you are parking anywhere where the car moves after you put it in park you can have this problem. Try this. When you drive into your driveway shift into park and set the emergency brake BEFORE you take your foot off the brake. When you are backing out put it into reverse first and then take the emergency brake off. See if that fixes it. If so its just because you are parking on an incline.
