Hello!

I was wondering what you fellow members have experienced w/ your Max's. I currently have 129K miles in my baby and have replaced the following parts.

-starter @120k
-windshield washer water pump @110k
-A/C electrical lines @ 105k
-hand brake lines @98k
-right axle @ 82k
-Bose speakers all-around @ 70k and 100k ( Bose SUCKS )
- rattling noise from A-pillar @ 50k

My exhaust system is making some rumble when I gas it. I believe that my exhaust system is corroding since I live in NYC. Also, my fuel pump has been hissing louder since 74k , but still running. Otherwise, things are okay.

Please share your current miles and problems therefore, we can learn more about our cars and expect.=)

'95, 95K miles. Except for the regularly scheduled replacement items and the upgraded VB, the car is still OEM.

'98 98k miles...

3 sets (all 4) tires, 4 sets brakes (and no I can't get rid of the squeal), 1 set rotors, 2 front calipers, 2 sets sparkplugs, 2 PCV valves, 1 air filter swap to a K&N panel, 2 fuel filters, 6 headlamps, 2 tail lamps, 1 turnsignal light, and too many to count oil filters...soon to replace the struts/springs.

All just routine maintainace stuff really despite the fact that I beat it hard all through the day. This is such a great car.

Oh...well the front end was replaced too from an accident, but that wasn't excatly "wear and tear".

'97 with 73k miles.

So far I've needed to replace nothing (except filters).

Will be putting a new clutch in probably by 80k.

126k miles

starter
o2 sensor
hood struts

Those are the only non-"wear and tear" items that have broken. Of course, I've broken plenty of innocent parts on my own.

Oh yeah, I consider filters, spark plugs, brakes, tires and belts to be normal wear and tear items...

1) Factory stereo died @ 60,000 miles.
2) Replaced tired O2 sensor @ 105,000 miles.

No other problems except for basic maintenance things like pads, tires, etc well except for a gang of sqeaks and rattles that seem to have no origin

MCoA all the way!!!!!!!

1997, with 120,000 miles. I have not replaced anything other than mods and regular maintence. I had a warranty through 100,000 and never used it. I do feel like things are about to go bad, I drive pretty hard, but I'm paranoid....

RE: Poll

98 SE pushing 76K.
Other than replacing for aftermarket, haven't had to replace anything at all due to problems. Following maintenance schedule and have only gone through two sets of brake pads due to aggresive driving.

64K- tranny bearings went bad- OUCH!!!!!!! $1000

That was a big shocker. That incident made me lose quite a bit of my confidence in Nissan reliability, although I still think it is a great car.

Thought Nissan's had 5 yr/60k powertrain? Wouldn't dealer help cover partial cost? Since it was only 4k over?

Nope, they didn't help with anything. I asked them about that and they said only if I had brought it in for every service from the beginning. Since I bought the car used, that wasn't possible. I still think they could've knocked a couple hundred bucks off though.

weirdness....

I don't know if you guys saw my posts about what to look for in a 4th gen. when some guy was looking at buying one but I test drove one, carfaxed it, took it to a dealer and eveything checked out but the day I drove it off the lot it started getting weird. Here's what has happened to it:

O2 sensor replaced
back door hinges replaced
Metal "corrupting" the intake caused a complete tear-down and rebuild (a month in the shop with me renting a ford escort WTF!!)
Standard maintenance after that (slight starter problems fixed)

anyway...my 1-1/2 cents.

Got the car with 36K on it
replaced oil sender @ 45K $60
replaced reverse light sensor @ 45K $30
Hood struts @ 60K
clutch @ 65K (stock was only HALF worn, I just wanted a better clutch)

I think my input shaft bering(s) in my tranny are going...this is gonna HURT...

Other than that the car has been great, as opposed to my '98 Grand Prix that went throught 3 trannies and 3 alternators just to name the major stuff.

Replaced the ECM last Wednesday. It had been throwing a code for the check engine light to come the morning after I bought the car. Good thing it was covered under warranty,

I claim 4th gen with lowest miles
