I have a black 97 GLE and would like the trimmimg around the side windows to be black and not the silver trim (just like the SE). I have already painted the silver trim black, but it is now chipping and peeling, can the trim just be replaced with the actual SE trim?

I guess on one knows huh, or maybe I'm getting that "Newbie" treatment again?

Newbie? No way man! You're a freaky freak Maximaniac don't ya know...

Anyways, I feel for you bro. I always thought that silver trim looked kind of cheap. I'd even paint that silver front grill of your body color too... Don't know where you can get the trim, but check the dealer for pricing.

When you paint over "chromed" plastic parts, you'll typically want to sand the surface, primer, then paint. Don't know if you originally did this (wasn't clear in your post).

Ok, I never even thought about that. Maybe because I was thinking that I can just cover it up with a few light coats until there is an actual OEM replacement. If not, or if its too pricey, then I'll follow your directions, thanks.
