So I go out and buy a new Q45 (see Regional bbs - Texas meet pics for some details) and sell my mom my Maxima. She's been driving her 92 S-10 Blazer POS forever and is hardly an enthusiast. So she's leaving work the other day and has to stop and run an errand (in the Max). This is at 620 and 35, for those of you familiar with Austin/Round Rock. Finishes what she has to do and pulls out of the lot and has to accelerate quickly to get to the on ramp (southbound I35). ******* coming up behind her in a black domestic (based on her description, Impala SS) doesn't like that and nails it. She puts the smack down, leaving him in her dust, much to his surprise. So she asks me "If you pull the exhaust and intake off and put the stock back on, is it going to be slower? I kinda like the acceleration!" LOL! I think she may be getting 'fast and furious' on me, at the age of 57!

I wonder what people think when they see her driving the Max around with Maxima.org stickers in the quarter windows, Greddy exhaust, lowered and the Lexus wheels.....

Cool moms Mike!

Hey did you ever get a chance to put those Lexus wheels on a scale? They are 17x8 or 17x7?

I wish my mom was like that. She thinks that moding my max is a waste of time, but my dad's 69 MG-B V8 is ok.

hehe that's a funny story.

My mom drives a 99 Volvo S70 and she can easily go over 90mph on a highway.

My mom is like that

One day after picking up her Infinity I-30 at the windshield replacement place I was with her. We drove there in my Aunts Acura 3.2 TLC as we were leaving she was in the Acura and motioned to roll the window down. I figured it was because i was listening to the music loud and she was gonna say something about her speakers. Instead... she told me last one there loses are spun her tires on the way out onto the road heading towards the highway. At first I was sitting there like "What the ...?" Then I realized I was losing and went after her. I had her I30 at 125 on the highway and she was still winning , dang mom. But I got her on the offramp and took the lead on the main road with her close behind but I was still doing double the speed limit. Wehn I cam onto my aunts strett she seen me coming flying around the corner and I got out about 1 minute before my mom got there. When I got out my Aunt was like "Your mom is gonna kill you for driving her car like that" but as she said it my mom came flying around the corner all action movie like and had the rear wheels start pulling out on her then grabbed control. It was great. I looked at my Aunt and said " something tells me she wont."

Great race with against her. Especially since I would never live down the loss.

Badass! My mom works on 620. Can't wait to (afford something better) and give her my Maxima, so she can floss my Lexus rims as well

Re: re:

haha.. funny stories..

I had just installed my intake, springs/struts, FSTB, exhaust, and my 2nd amp in my car.. and my grama and grampa were visiting. I asked grampa if he wanted to go for a ride in it and he was like ok, so we go around the block I rev it up and play the music, he said sounds good.. well, grama gets in the car and we go around the block, needless to say about 20 minutes later we roll back in the driveway, my grama had me going 80 in a 45, and the music all the way up.. SO FUNNY!!! she loved it (she drives a 93 RX-7).

My wife generally drives faster than I do. I complain more about her driving fast than she does about me! She doesn't ride in the Z much, but does like to go out evey once in a while and run up to triple digits for the rush.

On the other hand, Mom driving fast is new - it must be the curse of the Maxima! LOL!

In answer to the question about the rims, they are 17x8. Haven't weighed them, and they are cast, not forged, but they are relatively light.

My mom

My mom had a 5sp Maxima before me!!! She got a brand new Taurus SHO in '89 simply for the speed! I think we all remember those awesome cars. They sure as hell FELT faster than the Max with their torque-steer. My mom had a 95 Max SE white and still has a '67 Impala convertible with a 327 and 275 horse. She's had that car since she was 18 - it was her first car. She once bet a guy she could chirp a 3 speed Firebird 400. Needless to say she won that bet My mom has been a motor head all her life and has now got a more refined type of speed in her Volvo S70 T5. Now THAT car moves! Everytime I go back to NJ, I get to drive it. My next car may just be a Volvo C70 T5, they're fun. Now THAT'S a cool mom!
