Rewired Windows
#1
I would like to know if anyone has done this to there car. some times I'm tired of turning the key to bring the windows down or up. Also is it safe for the battery. you know you get out the car and you forget to bring up the windows you have to get back in and stick the key back in to get power on to the window. thanks for any info.

you can do this by wiring up a power window roll up module and hook it up to your negative pulse to lock the doors. If you have any more questions or need info I have the Omega disc that tells which color wires control your windows if you want that I need the year of your max.

Doesn't the max use a data signal rather than a neg. pulse? I don't know for sure. I was looking in to powering my windows all the time for these same reasons but, if I'm reading the schematics right, I think putting constant power to the window switch will make the bcm think the ignition is on 24/7 and therfor never allow me to set my factory alarm. I was think thinking about installing a momentary button that would allow me to supply 12 to the windows as long as I held the button. This would be a little easier than the key in the ignition. Suggestions??? Thanks.
Oh yeah, there was a thread on this in the electronics section. Someone was talking about a rewire near the fuse panel but I think it only works on certain gens. of Maxs.

all this sounds interesting... and since we're talking about rewiring windows, is there a way to rewire the remoteless key entry so that with a press of a button the windows would go up? i like the windows going down feature, but i don't want to have to put the key in just to put them darn windows back up again.

Thats what I thought this thread was about. Its easy to do that you just need to get a power window rollup module. Ive done this on my max but its hooked up to an aftermarket alarm but you could use it with the stock alarm because it uses a negative pulse to lock the doors and the power window rollup mod. uses a negative pulse to activate. Pleas dont act like I dont know what Im talking about Ive done alarm and remote start installs for a nearby shop for the past 3yrs.

Hey Tilley,
Are you refering to me with "Pleas dont act like I dont know what Im talking about?" I hope not, but I don't see any other post that may make you respond like that. If you took offense to what I said, sorry, but then you probably didn't read my entire post. Either way - hope you didn't take offense. Who's roll up module would you reccomend and where would you get it. Does the shop you work at do online or mail ordering?.

Tilley,
I know what you mean, but there are a lot of people who talk out there buts on this site. So don't take offense to someone clarifying a point. I wouldn't take just anyones advice on this site. I've seen your max, I know that most of your max is made by you, and it's tight. But not everyone knows this I wouldn't have if I hadn't seen your car first hand and redmaxpa007 didn't tell me. (I still want to know how you did your brakes...cabella)
Toolrocks has a valid point, and was an excellent question. Logic would say that could happend, but if you have had positive experiences with doing it this then sweet we can take your experience and put it into practice.

Glad to hear we're cool Tilley. Thanks for the info. on the module. I will be checking into getting one. I noticed though, if you have the signal wire to your module comming from the door's locking pulse, then you can't ever leave the windows down and alarm the car (locking the doors) can you? Do you have some way around this? As I was typing this it dawned on me..... The module must have to get it's own 12VDC power, and then just gets a trigger from the lock pulse - or someother momentary negative and then sends power directly to the window motor. That makes perfect sense to me. Did you get power from wires all ready inside the doors or did you have to run another (constant) power source into them? One last thing; can you put just one module at the drivers door to do all windows, or do you need a module for each window? Thanks again.

Back to the orginal post...
Sorry to change the subject - lol - but what about the question philthismax originally asked? I too would LOVE to have delayed accessory power. My Audi had this. I could turn off the car, pull out the key and still roll my windows up and down - until one of the doors was opened. I have also heard of some cars having delayed accessory power but for xx seconds instead of until the doors are opened. Either way, can this be done on the Maxi.?
P.s. Tilley, regarding this roll up module, I too would be very interested except I would like to be able to arm my car and not roll the windows up every time. I liked your suggestion of using the disarm for window roll-up. Can you take it a step further and have it happen on the disarm double pump (which is the unlocking of all doors)? Or what about tapping the trunk release button (where holding it pops the trunk)? Am I getting too trick or is this possible? Thanks.

they are tinted. Just not a lot. he he he I have to stay in legal limits. I know I don't have too, but I have saftey inspections every year when I register my car. The state is pretty **** about tint. There was a cop that was blown away buy a guy in the back seat of car with a shot gun. The cops blamed the death on the illegally dark tint. So I have 35% Quantum mirror tint
