Guys, been thinking about getting a K&N drop-in filter for my 97 Max SE. Anybody know where I can order one for a great price. I think that the local parts store sells them for about $48. Any place beat that?

Also, I've followed a thread regarding performance gains from using them. Seems minimal according to the responses. Anyone feel any different????

Cheers

Can't say that I know of anyone who has them cheaper than that - that seems to be a pretty normal price for the drop-in.
I'd have to agree with what you've seen about the performance gains; if there's anything at all, its pretty minimal. I haven't noticed a big improvement since I put mine in. A friend said that his seems "louder" at high RPMs, but that's the only difference.

The drop-in is said to give you maybe 5hp! You should benefit with better gas mileage and cleaner respiration for your loved one! Plus, you'll never need another filter. I have one that I do not use anymore, it has 5-7k on it. $35 shipped! e-mail if your interested.

Your response begs the question: "why don't YOU use it anymore?"

I've got one that I'll sell for $40 with the cleaning kit included(I think that is about$12-13). I ran mine for about 2 weeks. I took mine out and replaced it with a generic cone filter. PM me if you want it.
BTW, I couldn't tell any HP gains from the K&N.

Summitracing has it for $39.95.
Ground UPS shipping is free but they do charge a fee for handling.
I bought myself a tranny cooler to bring the handling charge down.

My butt dyno showed NO GAIN with the panel filter.
I pretty much expected that before I bought it.
The reason I bought it is to save $$$$ in the long run.
