All,
96 Auto SE, 97.5K miles, Stock, All Options
I use my Max as a daily commuter 30-40 miles each way.
Looking to get a HKS Muffler, CAI, UDP, and RT CAT.
I expect to get ~ 15-20 hp and still be able to drive this commute without my wife, when she drives it, getting a headache while I still get the increase in performance? Will I get that much increase in HP or less?
Thanks
shatel

Do all those but axe the hks muffler. If you really want a muffler, get an used 2000+ muffler(dual camber). Noise will be at a min but performance will not suffer. Actually even if you kept your stock cat-back and muffler, it will be really quiet and again performance probably will not suffer significantly(ie.. 1-3 hp if that)

Get a y-pipe, CAI, UR UDP, RT Cat and leave the stock muffler, that's what I would do if I wanted to stay as quiet as possible.

Plus the HKS muffler tip is HUGE!
Just keep the stock muffler, and get a B-pipe.

Thanks,

Unfortunately with ~98K miles my stock muffler has just about had it. So I'll need a suitable replacement. Also,
is the HP gain what I'm expecting?

You could always get the Apexi WS exhaust. It's cat back, and I heard that it's pretty quiet.

Your HP estimates seem within reason (at the flywheel).
