people with the unorthodox UDP, please give me advice
is it worth it? are the gains there? are there any concerns about durability or driveability i should know about such as AC, accessory function, alternator, etc? how much does it cost and where can i find a good deal on one? i need more power! need 14.4's! thanks.
Me too!
I am in the shopping stages for one as well. I too am concerned of any negatives and also curious as to the actual gains. I've heard mixed results. I'll share any info. with you as I hear more. As for prices, I have a best of $140 (seems too cheap to be true) without belts and $190 with belts and it also looks like there is a group deal at custommaxima on the horizon. Let's keep in touch through e-mail as we each learn more. :)

As for problems with the pulleys, i have heard that the stillen pulleys melt, so you may want to stay away from them. Otherwise i really have not heard of any problems with installing a pulley.
Post results
This is a mod I want to look at eventually. Maybe in the works in the next two months if I am lucky. Let us know about the install and how the results were. Or if you got into the 14's with it. I have heard some people before say even with AC on and amps and subs there was still no problems.

I have the UDP I have for a year now... I have no adverse affects that I have noticed. I got the UR UDP from Stillen and it was $160 + $4 dollars shipping. I then got the belts from discountparts.com for ~$14 including shipping. The part was not that hard to install and took ~60min. The hard part of the install was getting the PS belt on it is really small...
If you do this mod I very highly recommend replacing the oil ring that is discussed in the directions and having another person on hand just in case...

I put a UDP on a few weeks ago and the car felt a little more energetic, noting HUGE but every little bit counts. The issue about the pulley possibly screwing the engine up and such is not true, it was just an uneducated rumor. The thing people thought was a harmonic ballencer was in fact a oil seal.

You can get the pulley direct from unorthodox racing, they are pretty expensive, so you may want to shop around. as far as perfromance, the pulley does not actually give you more horsepower, it frees up some of the horsepower that would normally be used to drive the heavier pulley. In other words, yes it will make the car fatser, because more power is going to he wheels, butit follows the same principle as weight reduction.

Possible long term damage from UDP
Let me know bout that oil ring = crankshaft seal.
I've got 26K miles on the Unorthodox pulley and my crankshaft seal blew. Cool dealership replaced it once (< 60K powtrain) but it's leaking again. They say it's because of the new UDP (not much reason for them to balk since I've still got a 75K warranty in effect)
In addition to that I'm gonna need a new oil sending unit & oil sensor switch. When the oil leaks (slight) it's drippin and spraying all around the area incl the power steering belt which'll probably slip within 6 months.

An ASE mechanic did the install. Seemed to go fine with belts, tension, fit, etc. Noticed a bit of noise like a whine after the install which I thought was normal. A/C and other accessories work fine. It wasn't til maybe 2-3 months ago I noticed the oil drips and saw that everything wasn't perfect anymore.
What might've been wrong at install time? (Assuming it's not normal vehicle wear at 60K)

I could see how the Oil Seal could be installed wrong. #1, if they didn't replace it, which according to Nissan is a no-no. #2, there is a lip on the oil seal. Because of the spring in it, the seal will fit snugly before it is all the way in. You have to make sure that that lip gets into the opening for the crankshaft.
Also, my UDP makes NO noise at all. No whine what-so-ever. AC, PS and everything else work just fine.

I am not sure what it is called, it's crank... something. It's the same seal/ring other people are talking about.

no problems to report here. i installed mine myself around 6 months ago and replaced the crank seal at the same time. the wine being reported could be the result of too much belt tension.

I have neither...guess I did it right
