I just installed my new cattman y-pipe yesterday and it seems to be loud. It has and really deep rumble at low rpm's, it's so deep I can feel the rumble through the floor of the car. It just seems to be a lot louder than I expected. Right now I have a factory exhaust with a universal muffler on, could this be the reason it is so loud? I was thinking of getting the Apex-i catback exhaust do you think this will quiet it down some? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks in advance.

 

Universal exhausts are usually loud. Have you check for leaks?

 

I'm going to put it back up on the lift today and check for leaks. It seems like the rumble's going more from the front of the car not back by the muffler. Hopefully I can quiet it down some or I will sell it because it's just too loud for my taste.

 

I think any aftermarket catback or muffler will be loud with a y-pipe. My Greddy catback roared with my Cattman ypipe. Too loud for my comfort at least. I don't know about the Apexi system though. Freeing up that exhaust brings the volume of the exhaust up.

 

I have a Y pipe on an otherwise stock exhaust, except for RT Cat, but you can say it's pretty much stock except for Y pipe. No noise here, just muted grumblings and grizzles, and only at WOT The CAI noise overpwoers it anyhow

my rumbling starts around 1500k. Seems normal but isnt too bad that you can feel it too much or maybe Im just used to it and didnt notice it too much. btw I have a stillen muffler.
