I think I remember seeing this question on here somewhere but I dont think anyone answered it. Would it benefit me to make a whole in the driverside fender to increase air flow to my cold air intake? It doenst seem like too much air could get to it, since its enclosed. Would a hole do anything?

YES, DO IT

Im not sure what your refering too, but to put in the CAI, you have to cut a hole to get it to the bottom. The only optional hole to cut is the left side fog light area for the bumper if you don't already have a hole or light there. This hole, if not already present, can greatly increase the performance of you CAI, my car is the proof, Enjoy your CAI but figure out your hole problem.

Ummm, if you havn't cut a whole then you don't have a CAI. What type of aftermarket intake do you have. As far as I know there are only 2 aftermarket cold air intakes for the Maxima. I have a Place Racing Cold Air Intake, then there is one made by WarpSpeed Performance. I think you may just have a cone intake. In that case it may not be worth it too much to cut a whole in your engine bay.

Read again. He want moreeeeee air to his COLD AIR INTAKE. He want to cut a hole in the fender. Not the fender under the hood.

I wouldn't really recommend this, if you want to cut any holes for air performance, cut your bumper.. but do it nice, cut symmetrically and then grill the new holes. Just my two cents.

Maybe YOU should get some glasses. He said FENDER. Nothing about that platic weather guard. Are they automatically considered the same thing? Whatever.

19hpkilla was right, thats I meant the platic guard. Maybe I should have been more specific. Sorry for the confusion.

I dont think its a good ideal to cut a whole in your plastic guard. Because the water will get to your intake and flood the engine.

Im looking at getting a cai or doing a home job because of lack of money. I have one question.

The New Zealand Maximas have the fog lights mounted further towards the centre compared to the US Max's. NZ max's have a hole what goes right to the fender well. Would driving in the rain affect the filter at all? I think a bit of water would get in there, especially at high speed.

This one resembles my car the most, except mine is dark red.
you can see what I mean about the cai and how air can get straight into the fender well.
