Help! A screw fell in my defrst vents!

Well I was tinkering with my car and I decided to place a screw on the dash. Before I new it I hit the screw with my elbow and it went straight into the defrost vents. How can I take it out? Do I need to take it out? I am affraid that the screw will prevent the gates within the system from opening/closing. Please help!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

It is unlikely the "vent doors" will get clogged with the screw. I believe there is a metal screen at all the vents (there are in the four rear facing vents on the dash), so the screw probably fell on that. An magnetic tipped pointer (like a TV antenna) is a useful tool when working on the car, and may be helpful for retrieving that screw.

Thank you Eric...your post gives me a little piece of mind. IT did sound like the screw hit metal when it fell into the vent so I think your correct in your assumption that there is a metal plate. I will fish for it with a magnet.

Thanks again

Another magnet idea

The magnet idea is the best way to get it out but just one more thing. Most of the ones I seen were retractable antenna like magnets that he is talkign about but I have also seen at places like Home Depot or what not ones that are more snakelike. This one will allow it to bend to the contour of the venting system. That way if there is a turn in there or something it might not be poosible to get it with a straight staying one.
