Anybody have any pics on how to do this. I lost my crutchfield for my car, and I don't know how. I want to change my climate bulbs. I heard the air vents and clock pop out. But how do I pop these out? I know I can just pop out the cover by the shifter.

my 95 max gle:
1. two screw in the back of the console.
2. if auto: unsnap the cover on the shifter.
3. disconnect cig liter.
4. two screw on the front after removing cover.
5. screw on the ashtray.
6. two screw at the bottom of the radio
7. unsnap the air vent.
8. two other screw on top.
i believe this is all the step. not sure if i left something out or not. if i helped then coo, if not then at least i tried right?

Heh... But do you have the neons under the car so you can turn off the lights and look like a UFO cruising down the street?

I took it out. And I don't think you can change those bulbs. I'm not sure what kind of bulbs they are in that thing. I started to take the climate control thingy apart from behind, but I got scared and didn't finish it. I don't have neons on the outside of the car. I have it under the dash on the driver and passenger side, and under the back seat. I would get the neons on the outside if I could drive w/ it on But since it's illegal to drive w/ them on, I don't think I will get them. I know you can get the neons from http://www.autotoys.com

Let me know if you suceed in doing this, I have 2 lights that are burned out, one behind the hazards and one behind the fan switch. I can't figure out for the life of me how to find the bulb on the switch and I can't get the big fuse type thing out from behind the hazard light, I have pressed the button and such and pulled hard, and it won't come out. . . If anyone has any suggestions or help, I would be glad for any info.

goodluck

i tried taking apart the climate control piece. It is very well sealed up and impossible to take apart. No way was i gonna rip it apart and risk breaking it just for blue bulbs. My advice is to leave it alone!! or check your fuses or call up Nissan Parts and ask them what they would do if the light goes out.

I went to a dealship and asked them about it. . . Said something like they would have to charge me for an hour of service, $70, and I said screw it, I don't need the bulbs that bad.

$70, screw that. I don't need them that bad. I'll just keep it looking like this. That climate control does kinda look tricky to take apart.

You might have a better dealership than I do. . . I know they did it for free on my Toyota when I needed help with that. . . Although Nissan's customer service isn't known for being that good as we all know.

Center consol

I got it all the way apart yesterday. It's pretty easy. (95 SE 5sp). I was also able to get at those little nasty led's that lite up the climate buttons (for the manual climate control). I fixed that pain in the a$$ dimmer thing on the clock while I was in there. I'd recommend that if you haven't done it yet. Does anyone still need help?

I still need help. . . Have the exact same car as you as far as the dash goes. . . I can get it apart, but I can't get to the bulb behind the A/C fan switch (Can't see it or find it). The other one will just require a lot of strength as I know where the bulb is, I just can't get the fuse/switch thing off of it no matter how hard I try.

Climate bulbs

I've successfully done this (bulbs for 95 SE 5sp fan and climate buttons) and it's not really that hard. If anyone is still interested, let me know and I will write up some instructions. It'll take me a day or so (it's not hard, just long and detailed).

btw: Neither of my bulbs were burned out. They were loose in their seating (bad design IMHO). Thank God 'cause after getting a look at them I realized that I had never seen anything like it before and have been checking pepboyz, advanced auto, etc ever since and have not seen exact replacements. I've seen similar, but not exact. Looks like it might be a factory purchase if they're burned.

neon under the car?

yeah its possible. i;ve seen a lot of mexican low riders do it. very illegal though. check lowrider magazine. i;m SURE they would have an ad for it. i;d suppose also it would be a kit with a relay,, power cord, light assembly, damage shield, some sort of springs to float it and a switch. personally i think it looks gay but hey whatever floats your boat.

Go to installdr.com
I used their site when I installed an after market CD stacker on my Bose and it had detailed descriptions and photos. the place to start on the center console is GENTLY prying off the top vent and clock (on the bose equiped 97 anyway), good luck

He isn't posting a how to on changing the color on bulbs, it is more a how to change the bulbs in the dash of a 95-99 maxima. . . If you have looked at it, it is kinda difficult. . . I can't figure out how to even get to the bulbs behind the A/C controls.

Center Console Instructions

OK...many of you have written to ask for me to write up instructions for changing the bulbs in the climate control unit (fan switch, a/c button and selector buttons). Sorry for the long wait, but I've finaly finished it. It's kinda' long, but I thought too much was better than too little. Most people will be able to skip through it. I'd like to post it on the site somewhere for others to take advantage of, but I don't know how to do it. Maybe someone can help me there. Right now Adidas_Boy is testing the instructions out for usability and to make sure I didn't make any mistakes before it gets posted. I have it in a Word doc. Email me if you'd like a copy before he's done testing them.

enjoy the ride !

Here is the link to the DOC file that Mo Max wrote up. . . It is very good and very detailed. I was able to follow it with no problems whatsoever. He is right that you won't be able to find replacement bulbs easily though. . . I am wondering if you can just change the condom thing color to make them different.

Replacement Bulbs (Center Console)

I was able to procure some bulbs from Nissan. The part numbers are as follows:

Fan switch: 27545-40U05

A/C and 6 Buttons: 27545-40U00

all three cost under $5.00.

I'm still working on getting replacements for the Hazard and Defroster (there are 3 total: 1 red, 1 blue, 1 Amber). The Nissan dealer that I got the other bulbs from said that you can't buy these as separates.

Adidas_boy - I fixed the lights on my hazard switch and my rear defroster. Thanks to an earlier post by amixam69 I was able to get replacement lamps. He found them at radio shack p/n 272-1092C (I paid 1.49 ea. for a pack of 2 lamps). Let me know if you are still trying to fix yours.

That's good info to know. . . My knocking on the dash trick worked for my hazard switch and it turned right on. . . I think it is funny that that works. If it didn't I don'tr know if I could even get to the bulb as I couldn't get the fuse type thing out of the socket. . .
