One of the overseas markets would have come with that feature. I still have a JDM cluster I picked up for my 3rd Gen with the gear indicator but I've never seen the 4th Gen version.

Heres a pic of the 3rd Gen unit.

That would be a good Idea if your max isn't an everyday ride... and you can go with out your car for a week. or you can set a side 2hours and do it yourself

I've been trying to find this stuff out, too. I haven't found anyone with the exact answer, but you guys seem to be on track. If the yellowish light (no condom)+blue paint=green, what about the yellowish light+green paint making blue? Has anyone tried this? Just an idea I may try. What kind of paint are you using on the bulbs that handle the heat and stick to glass?

I noticed that on mine too. I thought it was for the automatics and since mine is a stick it just wasn't used. If the automatics tell you the gear selection by the lever then I would assume that this is a fairly common cluster and has been used for several cars. It gives you a cool place to put accesories, like shift light, or nos on/off etc. explore the possiblities.

[Q If the yellowish light (no condom)+blue paint=green, what about the yellowish light+green paint making blue? Has anyone tried this? [/B][/QUOTE]

I wish it were that simple but it's not. Blue is a primary color, adding yellow makes it green and adding yellow to green makes a lighter shade of green, kinda limey That method just won't work. I even tried using the yellowish bulb with a purple paint but that didn't give a blue either.
What kind of paint are you using on the bulbs that handle the heat and stick to glass? I tried using a glass stain. It wouldn't really coat the bulb all over due to the shape of the bulb so I didn't get to test if it would survive the heat. The paint is known as glass stain and I got it a craft store. People use them in 'suncatchers'. I think I am going to remove my guages and put blue glass stain on the guages and use hyperwhite bulbs to shine through. If I put half as much effort into my classes as I do on this damn blue light crap I'd be brilliant. A++++++ Ralphy

I'm the same way, I spend more time thinking of a way to make my dash lights blue than on school. If only school was as interesting.

The gauge cluster uses 194 bulbs, I don't know about the shifter, and I don't know where to get a good deal.
