Why?

Ummmmm, I don't understand. Why lower your car so much?

What is the reason? Does it improve performance or the ride?

If so I guess that would be cool but I dunno if that is worth making a car look so silly. Most lowered cars I have seen look really bad, but if the performance gain is enough I could see why...

I also sure would hate to be in even a minor flood with a car lowered a lot - that would not be fun..

Excellent

A quick re-cap of this thread--just want to make sure i got it all right.

1.IT doesn't matter who you order it from, Nis-Knacks or Shox they are gunna be around 180$

2. The ride quality is comparible to H&R (what a plus)

3. THe drop is about 1.6 inches...just a hair lower than H&R's (1.4) i believe..

This is the general consensus correct?

Yep. And I suggest buying them from Nis-Knacks, since it is not a large corporation like shox.com. Richard is a maxima lover like us, but shox.com could care less.

Konis are better but expensive AND a pain in the rear to install.
To test your shocks, the easiest way is to stand on the front side of the car by the wheel and push it down HARD...keep pushing and watch for any "bouncy" motion. It you see bouncing, then it is time for new struts...

Drop zones ride just fine.

They ride pretty good. I took them off and did what everyone is afraid to do, I cut a coil off my intrax where they sandwich together and bam got a nice drop and I am loving it. I just got these dropzones about 1 month ago from my sister in Miami. Why did I cut my springs I have no funds for GC and now I am not even going to get them since I am finally satisfied with my ride and it rides just fine. So if anyone is interested in buy these dropzones from me Ill be more than happy to sell them for $125.00 shipped and next day air while we are at it. I will provide a tracking number etc....

I orderd body kit pieces and B&G Springs from Paul at Avalon Racing in the begining on August. I got my body kit stuff but my springs are STILL on backorder from Europe! AND he is charghing me $252 shipped!
I just e-mailed him asking him why so much more.

BUT everyone says that they are just as soft as H&R, and that some can not tell the difference between B&G and stock, beisdes the lowering aspect.

bummer...

Gotta another question...IF i have all of the tools except for a spring compressor...can i do the install wiht a friend or something??!?? How hard is it really? Complicated? I haven't found any REAL GOOD "HOW2" instructions on install basic springs on stuck struts....any advice? pics? please post!

Not hard at all Youll need a spring compressor

Listen to install springs is not hard at all

If you take off your front wheel there s 3 things you need to remove,

2 bolts and a clip that holds the brake line

3 pop the hood youll see three big nuts I think they are 21 or 22mm remove those three nuts and watch out below there goes one front one out, thats it thats on the front.

4. for the back, remove some plastic clips from the lining of your trunk and look for three small nuts remove them, remove your rear wheel, do this first for the rear spray WD-40 on that nut cause that bolt is a ***** to come off is a 17mm and thats it for the rear then remove the three nuts that hold the shock to the car.

5 you should loosen the middle nuts that hold the spring in the shock while is on the car just loosen dont remove, why? bcuz is time consuming to do it while is on the spring compressor dont take it off though.

I did this like 6 times already to different cars I dont have a digital camera but Ill ask my friend to take some shots I have to remove my rear springs and reinstall my Intrax back on since I only cut the front ones this past friday. The car rides just fine.

just ordered bg's from nis-knacks last night. this morning I get a call from the man himself to confirm my order and let me know approx when my order will arrive. talk about customer service. we even chatted about the surf in Half Moon Bay and Hawaii (neither of us surf so it was an interesting convo) anyway, I reccomend nis-knacks fully.

Help!!!

Question i have ebiachs and i like the way they handle but not nearly low enough for me how are the ground contols and what type of shocks should i get for those. and if anyone has 18's, do you have a problem with the tire rubing on the mcpherson strut in the front cause i do.

Haaaaa your rubbing with eibachs

You have serious issues if you are rubbing with those Eibachs, they dont even drop the car (they do but not enough), I had Eibachs and they ride perfect except when you hit a bump. I was going to get some GC's but I dont want to spend the money so I cut off a coil off my intrax now if are going to go with GC use koni adj shocks. I have 245/40ZR 18 tires rim size 18x8.0. and no rubbing what so ever the only rubbing I have is if I turn my steering wheel very hard to the left or the right and I dont do that at all unless I have to do a U turn and thats rare.

Konis are better then the KYB GR-2, but I don't think they are going to be better then the KYB AGX adjustables.

Also, it's recommended to get performance struts with aftermarket springs, because of the added force placed on the struts. The stock struts even though they still may be good with stock springs will not last very long with lower, aftermarket springs.

Except that I've heard that H&R springs are an exception since they are progressive springs and they don't ride hard all the time, only when you push them. But even these over time will make stock struts too bouncy.

Save yourself the trouble of doing the install twice and buy struts along with your springs.


I do have one question: Does anyone know if the B&G springs are progressive?

I agree with you on getting the struts & springs done at the same time.

I think they ALL are progressive (atleast they claim to be...)

Ill attempt to work the diagram and repost it

great detailed diagram Ill redo it to show only bolts and nuts to loosen up and Ill be doing my rear shocks this weekend and my boy said he will shoot digital pics of me installing my stuff. so Ill do a post and hopefully I can save lots of these guys money as well.

I got a 3rd gen.. KYB AGX does not exists for my car :-(

Open for other ideas.. Else the only option I got is the OEM KYBs.

You bring up a good point, but how many times have you actually used a warranty? Only once in my life have I used a warranty on a product. If you buy something used, you don't get a warranty.

I guess it depends on how much you really want that warranty.
If that's the case, go to shox.com and buy the springs from them. Since they are such a big company, they most likely have their own warranty.

It's illegal to sell without warranty. The manufacturing must carry warranty to sell in the US...but I guess black market. Anyways Nis-knack.com says they don't carry the B+G springs anymore due to lack of demand and slow sales...so I guess I'll be going to shox.com. Laters

I bought mine from Shox.com. I got it promptly and cannot complain about the service.

Now, I am not sure which way do the springs go! It has more coils on one end and fewer on the other end...

Does anyone know?
