i picked up my 98 yesterday, and along with those other two guys, that makes 3 new SE owners (a 97, 98 and 99) in the last 24 hours. i'll bet that doesn't happen too often

no no.. since you are a newbie.. let me explain it to you..

you my friend are a part of an elite group... those of us who decided we were not going to let the dealer force us into the AUTO world.. that we were going to search the earth if it took us a life time to have a 5spd..

see typically the excuse around here is: "I couldn't find any 5spds" but everytime i call my local dealer they have about 3 or 4 in stock so nick is being sarcastic.. in that you have found a great find... he is saying to those with AUTO's that settled .. sarcasticly.. "hmm.. obviously there is a shortage of 5spds.. must be impossible to find them huh" but you have defyed their logic..

you my friend have a 5spd maxima.. you are already 1 level up on the board.. you are now a part of "the" group.. WELCOME

and again i commend you not on your maxima purchase.. but on your 5spd Maxima purchase.. you have my respect for now

i think it depends on luck and timing. i was hunting for a clean 5spd SE for about 6 weeks, and came up with zilch. and i'm no slouch at locating a car, my only limitations were finding something local to portland, oregon, and it's not like that's a small market.

i had actually given up, and was ready to buy an ES300 on thursday (if i'm going to get an auto, it's going to be a lux-mobile), but gave one more look online before i went to sign the loan papers on the lexus, and came up with this car. i call it dumb luck that it was the perfect car (cept it doesn't have the meridain package dammit), and i found it at the last minute. boy was that lexus guy hot when i backed out of the deal.
