I'm a newbie here and was wondering if any of you have raced one of the newer Max's?

When I bought my car last year, I was considering purchasing a new one but just didn't like the styling. After test driving it I couldn't really "feel" the extra 32 ponies either, so I decided to save the 6G's and got a clean '98 SE (5sp) w/25k miles on it. I've added the PR CAI, Stillen Y pipe, Courtesy Nissan mid-pipe, RT cat, and a universal muffler.

I met a few area Max owner's just recently and we decided to head down to the local track (Desoto)for some fun. My best run was 15.1 @ 92.42 (2.34 to 60'). Three of the guys had 2K Max's with the same mod's as I did and they ran slightly better than me in the trap speed of around 94-95 mph. One guy did get his in the high 14's but he told me he doesn't come off the gas while shifting (he's going to show me that trick).

There has been some talk of shift points on this board. I typically shift right at the red-line. Thinking about this for a while yesterday, I'm going to try shifting at 6K, since it's closer to the max hp peak (5600). The 2k's max hp comes in at 6400, so it would make more sense to shift at the red-line on that one.

It was only my second time at the track and I REALLY enjoyed myself!
